ash tray removal

help!!!
i have a 04' auto coupe. i have a coin that fell inside the back part of the ash tray. now it'll close, but it won't stay locked in the closed position, just flops open.

how do i take the console apart? i looked at the service manual, but it's not real clear. seems like u pull the bottom of the shift **** down and remove a pin..but then what?

any help would be appreciated.

Not sure about on a automatic, but with mine (manual) after removing the shift ****, you just pull up on the trim piece around the shifter. After that I had to disconnect to wires and the whole thing came out. I think after that you can easily remove the ashtray.
