Well, I've actually been looking for a sedan b/c of the possibility of kids in the future but I've come across a supercharged G and it's tempting. Here's the ad:

Factory Performance enhancements:
Aero Package w/spoiler & diffusers $550.00
Performance Tire & Wheel Package $900.00

Total Factory enhancements $1,450.00
After market enhancements:
Vortech Supercharger- Infiniti Dealer installed w/ warranty $8,000.00
Borla stainless steel dual exhaust $1,500.00
Infiniti Dealer installed window tint w/ lifetime warranty $ 350.00
High performance copper spark plugs $ 200.00

Total after market enhancements $10,050.00

Total value of all enhancements before depreciation $11,500.00
Estimated depreciation 75%
Current value of all enhancements $ 2,875.00

Trade in Value including all enhancements $29,900.00
Average Retail Value including all enhancements $33,625.00

Wife said get a vehicle with room for a baby’s car seat. So here I am putting my baby up for adoption. She is looking for a good home. This coupe is not for everyone. It is fast and in great condition. If you want something no one else has and you don’t want to spend all the cash to do the enhancements yourself, then here is your chance. Faster than a Porsche 911.

387 hp. 309 Torque. Gas mileage almost identical to stock. Super Charger has both a dealer warranty for labor and a manufacture warranty for failure. The car itself has a 4 year 60,000 mile.

Questions:

Is that a fair price?

This would be my first G and I'm not huge on doing my own auto work. Am I asking for trouble getting a supercharger or will it not be a ton of work?

How do s/c's work? Is it pretty much just gas and go or what? Sorry I'm a newb but again, this is all new to me.

I'm currently driving a Jeep but used to have an Accord with intake/exhaust/pulleys, etc. This is obviously a much bigger step up. Thanks for the help in advance!

What year is the car and how many miles on it? Chances are that it has been dogged on with it having a SC on it... Trust me on that one

If you do not know a whole lot about engines I would stay away actually... Does it have guages? Does it have a Dyno Plot? How does the AFR look?

Not to be a **** blocker but I would not want you to get involved in something you would later regret...

Hard to say a fair price when you did not mention the most important aspects, year / mileage...

MODS have nearly ZERO resale value actually when it comes down to it...

it depends on the year and how many miles

if this is an 05 with less than 40k miles.. then its a steal

DO IT

Sorry, those are important details, I forgot to paste the header for the sale.

It's a 2004 with 35000 miles on it.

I haven't seen a dyno plot on it and it doesn't look like (based on limited pics) that is has any guages.

Not sure what an AFR is so I can't comment on that.

Just thought it would be fun to have a fast car that could be even faster when I wanted it to be.

Yeah, like the $200 spark plugs. Those must have been the only batch made at the time.

I'm sure I can talk him down in price I'm more concerned with what the effects of having a supercharger on a daily driver would be, i.e. maintenance, engine benefits/problems, etc.

If i was going to buy a used car with all those mods, I would tell the seller that before pruchasing it that i would want to take it to a mechanic to make sure that everything is sound. There could be unforseen problems with a car with a supercharger. especialy if most of those miles were made with the vortech and the vortech doesnt have a great tune.. you could be getting yourself into some serious trouble. just my .2

I dont understand this way of thinking. TONS of guy will buy the car stock then sink TONS of money into it, supercharger ect ect. But they wont buy one with these mods.

you could always buy my SC'd G for $27K - has 28k on the motor, only 3k have been with the SC. A bunch of other mods including 20" wheels, springs, sways, plenum spacer, headers, HFC, exhaust, Defi gauges, TS replica bumper, Ings replica sides, etc. etc. It's been tuned to 355 rwhp. PM me if your interested.

If you're really not a big car guy, I would avoid the troubles of having a SC'd car. I only started doing research on car modding over this past summer, and it's still a learning experience for me every day. I make no mistake that I'm a newbie, hell I didn't even know what an exhaust was before this summer. But I can tell you that it's a bit overwhelming at times the amount of information, jargon, etc. that you have to wade through, and I couldn't even imagine being dumped in the middle of it like you would be if you bought that car. So, just beware!

The only way I would by this is to talk to the previous owner, run an oil consumption test, compression test and have the whole car checked out by a "disinterested" mechanic (for a fee).

Most modded cars have had the crap run out of them (why would you mod one?) and as my mom used to say "run hard and put away wet".
