Rhino ramp DIY oil change

I just changed the oil in my '06 G coupe and I used rhino ramps.
I completely drained the oil while it was still on the ramps. Or did I?

I feel that about a half of quart was still in the drain pan because I put 5 quarts of oil in it after the oil change and the dip stick was reading about a 1/4 inch over the "H". I let the car run for about a couple minutes and took this reading about an hour after I changed the oil.

Anybody that has used ramps, please respond.

I checked it again and it's more like half inch to 3/4 inch above the "H".

i used rhino ramps, and the first time, after i checked it, it was all over the freakin dipstick. so i, being a noob, drained some oil and made a mess then added some more thinking i drained too much. all this time, i couldnt read the oil level because the whole stick was brown with oil.

but just check ur oil in the morning, on a cold engine. the color will be much darker, and there will be no splash on the dipstick so it'll be easy to read.

but yea, 5 qt is good. if u are worried, just add 4 to 4.5 qt, then add a little later after u check oil level. it's easier that way then to drain it i dont know if that made any sense. if i sound disoriented, i am

I use ramps and it seems fine. I drain for a while, usually letting it drip for 5-10 mins for as much as i can. Last 2 changes I put in 5 quarts and it ends up 1/4 to 1/2 above the L marker. I top it off after a few days of driving/checking so i dont accidently overfill

I personally have given up on the dipstick. Every oil change at 5K, I get 5qt out and I put back 5 qt.

Kinda OT, but my car is fairly new I only put 1900 miles on it so far, the dealer says I should change oil every 3750 miles, but most people on here say at 5K. Is it really necessary to change at 3750 or is the dealer just tryin to make some more money off of me?

If you use a top grade (Amsoil, Redline, Mobil1 Delvac etc.) synthetic, you can use the 7500 mile interval with no worries. Just make sure you save any receipts if you don't have the dealer do the service. I go 15K, but my car is out of warrantee now.

In your maintenance service guide, there's different schedules to follow depending on the driving conditions.
3750 falls under sever operating conditions (shed 1) and under the Premium service schedule. Schedule 2 is every 7500 miles or 6 months.

It's your choice which one to choose.
I go every 3750, being I'm running with 5-30wt Dino oil. If I go Synth, I'll go more miles before intervals.

BOT:
When up on ramps ( I haven't done this myself), if the drain plug is angled higher than the lowest part of the pan, umm yeah...you will not drain all the oil out.
