Winter tires or keep old car
I still have my old car 2003 Grand Am GT. And a 1997 Grand Am that needs about 700 dollars of body work. I was going to fix my 1997 one and keep it as a winter beater, but its more to fix then I thought it would be. So I was thinking maybe I should just keep paying for the 2003 and keep it as a second car and then sell it after winter if I must. This way I can also just sell the 1997 for like 600 bucks and use that as payments for the 2003.
Or should I just get winter tires and wheels for the G?

yeah, I'm wondering the same thing actually. I had a mustang, and for the winter, even with studded tires, that damn thing could not stay on the ground. So would you guys recommend a beater car for the winter, or does the g35 handle pretty well in the snow/ice.

awww poor g. haha. well the beater would probably have to be the 2003 one. its not really worth to throw 700 into the 1997 one just for one winter. although it does have brand new tires on it that are great for snow. sucks!

a good set of snow tires and you'll be fine. Save the money on insurance and repairs for G mods

True true, but I'll also feel bad driving the G in the snow and salt all winter long.
As of now it looks like I might be able to fix the 1997 grand am for a lot cheaper. If that falls thorough it shall be my beater!

man u live in Ohio I keep the beater for those snowy days
if u lived in state where snow & ice is kind of rare then id say snow tires
the G is no fun in snow & ice!! especially turning corners
winter tires or not ...very scary driving

It's up to you and how comfortable you are in the snow. I'm fine in the bad weather, but other people scare the **** out of me. For this reason I drive a Bronco in the winter, 4X4 and if I wreck it, I wreck it. I'd feel a lot better than if I messed up the car

Thats what I kind of figured haha. I just hope to get that '97 fixed for cheap. I don't want to make the '03 one a beater. Its still nice with only 34k miles. Just hope it sells sometime soon.
