Is this pinging?

At idle in the cabin I hear the engine. I don't know much about engines but am i supposed to be able to hear the movement of the pistons or something when idling? sounds very machine like.
I was told on a few occasions that my car was pinging though.
Zcar garage let me know that i was pinging at high rpm.
and an infiniti tech said that i was pinging because i was not using premium fuel I always use premium in fact, the only type of fuel i use is shell v-power

I only use shell v-power and when its not around chevron is my next choice. Both i believe are awesome fuels to use. I just prefer shell gas over chevron, but my dad has always told me to use chevron.

Whatever!

I never get pinging from either one though

Isn't pinging only a problem with turbo-ed cars? This probably isn't the same problem you guys are experiencing.

Engine's been knocking for a long time ... after MREV+ installation. Any solutions? or will I have to get UTEC?
I don't see why my engine would knock with MREV+ alone. Everything else is stock.

Have you dyno'd since you've added MREV+? A/F ratio? You could be running lean, which could result in pinging or detonation.
