Launching.
Re: Launching.
I do remember reading something on this same question before, and I believe most stated around 1200 RPM for a launch. I believe that number was for the 5AT. I don't know if that same RPM would apply to the 6MT or not.

Re: Launching.
Essentially, you want the tires to spin...but not really. You want to sort of "chirp" the tires such that the "shock" of the launch is let out onto the tires rather than the transmission. I believe C&D magazine said they found best 0-60 times by launching at 4K rpm...personally, I never really launch that high. 2K or 3K rpm launch is plenty and personally I like to let gear 1 hook up fully first, then I punch it. Just practice and see where the best spot is....personally, I like 3K rpm launch. After some practice, you will see, that although starting at 3K can be considered "abuse", if you do it just right, the car will love it. =)

Re: Launching.
Also how warm your tires are and the ground...

Re: Launching.
how exactly do you do a good launch? do you just drop the clutch? or do you release it slowly?
once i reved it up to 5k and screeched across an entire intersection...never again.
