Unhappy Supercharger = Blown Engine?

I have been contemplating going FI particularly the Vortech Supercharger setup. Friday, I took my car for the scheduled 45k maintaiance and was talking to one of the service managers about this. He said that going FI will almost definately blow my engine. Something about all the extra top end power...Is this true?

LOL, stupidest thing I've heard. Yes there have been some blown motors, but its rare. They have been caused by bad installations, oil starvation, and way too much boost. Do you know how many Vortech FI G's there are out there running with no problems at all, for more than 20-30K miles? The service manager is a moron and he doesnt know what the f*ck hes talking about.

when you go FI you always run the risk of blowing your engine. since our car's aren't made for boost from the factory you will need do some mods to your engine. you can get it built with stronger rods/pistons etc. the vortech is supposed to be the safest FI out there for our cars. you just need a good conservative tune from someone who knows what they're doing and you should be fine.

I am pushing 9psi on a stock motor w/ the Vortech and I LOVE this kit.... AFR's are great and I have 70K on my odometer... I drive her like she is meant to be drivin daily and I am planning on getting to AT LEAST 150K miles before I plan on doing anything major to the motor

I mean i'm not a super gear head...but i know my way around the engine bay...when he said that I looked at him like he had 8 heads. I had never heard that before. I can blow my engine without FI...so thanks all...that's what I thought. Any of the FI guys have prices on their installs...Total Cost of ownership!

our Q's are bulletproof, find a good place to do the installation around your area and keep it in tune and you'll be fine. only way ur gunna blow the engine is if your pushing ur engine constantly

Install cost should be arounbd $1K to $1,500. It all depends on what your having installed, tuned, and if the shop has done them before.

If you do a trans cooler(AT) and a pan spacer - you can usually add about $300 labor...

The only time I ever go to the dealership is for a TSB, other than that they know less about the car than I do. I ran 9psi for over a year with no issues at all.

No, not yet... I have not run on a 1/4 but I know I can take M3's, STI's, EVO's, Stang GT's, Cobra's, Hemi's, and some others... I have an extra 250 - 300 lbs in stereo equipment at the moment so my times will not what they could be so I figured whats the point... I got to remove my audio and give it a try some time soon...

I did pull 418 rwhp on my last dyno... I need to get over the "looks" of my SSV and throw my Crawford Plenum back on as well as I lost about 10TQ going to the SSV...

My install cost me $850 and I helped out alot so I can wrench on her in my garage... I am working on a CAI for the Blower to pull air from behind the bumper instead of right in front of the engine bay... I am trying to come up with a set up that will not have a 90 degree bend in it for better airflow...
