Re: S2000 - Got Dusted!!!

sorry for my mistake but it really doesnt matter the 350Z and the G35 are the same engine and not much wait difference. the G35 had a higher skidpad number then the 350 so it really doesnt matter. the point is that the 350Z beat the S2K thats all that counts.

Re: S2000 - Got Dusted!!!

I raced an S2000 at the drag strip.
His time: 14.21
My time: 14.25

But thats cuz i suck at racing =P I still don't think we'd be able to burn an S2000 by 4 carlengths unless something weird was up... the car is obviously a very capeable machine...

Re: S2000 - Got Dusted!!!

gosh, I dont know what some of you peeps are smoking with the S2000 bash remarks. Its all a bit uneducated dont you think? I love both the S2000 and the G35 and from both sides I hear of people dissing the others cars with "uhh ya it sux because my car is better." Man give it a break.

S2000 might be useless under 4k, but has it been considered that the S2000 revs up to 4k a lot faster than G's revving up to 4k, especially in 1st, 2nd? How about gearing? 9000 rpm gearing allows for way shorter gears. How about weight? Its not 3400 pounds like the G. It all comes down to weight/hp right? The whole torque argument is blown way out of portions. Makes me think Im at a mustang forum. HP is POWER, a function of force, distance and time. torque is just a force.

gosh, makes me want to tear my hair out. And no, the S2000 doesnt run 15 sec. Sure some bafoons might run it at that time, but you can count on it that some G35 drivers run the same time. Yes you have to rev that sucker at 8000 to get 13sec times, but the means are irrelevant. It does it.

S2000 has only a couple of uses, with one being an awesome driving experience. Its not considered a daily commuter obviously, Honda never designed it to be a traffic hauler. But when you want to talk performance its up there. I believe ultimately the G's are faster all around but the margin is no where measureable to some nth degree. It was built with a lot more engineering and quality, unlike some american cars.

the end.
haha, jk.

Amen man, that's why I make the ridiculous posts that I do...just to show how ridiculous these other posts are.

Maybe these people should just save up and buy some 500k+ mean machine, but guess what...someone will ALWAYS be faster! *waaaaaaah*

-edit- walk outside, look at your car, admire its beauty. get inside, put the key in, start it. take a deep breath, and be glad you drive a nice vehicle and can afford it while so many others can't or just do not want to take on the financial burden. why can't people keep it simple?
Edited by Serum on 11/09/03 05:41 PM.

Re: S2000 - Got Dusted!!!

I think some of this is kind of false. A S2k is no more difficult to drive than a high powered RWD coupe. Its just a matter of comfort.

At the track, the G35 Coupe vs. the S2k is a driver's race for sure. The G35 has the advantage off the line probably, and the S2k probably starts to have a slight edge (or even's things out) after the 1/8 mile mark.

But to say the S2k is hard to drive or you have to beat it up to drive it well..well, you have to beat up most cars to drive them well, i.e. take it up to fuel cutoff (unless you have a small turbo and your boost bleeds off past a certain point, or your gearing sucks and you lose power before fuel cutoff, etc..).

I have driven Honda's my whole life, so I highly doubt that to ME an S2k would be difficult to drive well. Then again, I'm sure I'd have some issues getting in the driver's seat of a G35Coupe and driving it well for the first few times.

Maybe you have a smaller margain of error in the S2k, but it is easily capable of running low 14s, high 13s just as the G35 Coupe is. I'd take the G35 anyday of the week over the S2k..but I have to say, to those that say the G35 should beat the S2k everytime - I think that's just flat out false. Two pretty equal cars in the 1/4 mile and on the track. But in the end, two TOTALLY different cars built for different purposes.

Re: S2000 - Got Dusted!!!

Well of course low end power matters! But its not even 50% of the whole picture - gearing and weight are 2 more very important factors.

The S2k vs. G35 Coupe is a driver's race. I was replying to the notion that it was NOT. I think that's false.

Re: S2000 - Got Dusted!!!

As for my previous post, WHOOPS! Don't recall what vehicle I thought it was, but VTEC doesn't kick in at just over 4K RPM, as was corrected...

As for this post, if the owner of the S2000 knows how to drive, that little Honda can be dangerous...And isn't that the way we'd all like it? Driver to driver, no excuses?

Re: S2000 - Got Dusted!!!

Even though the G35 has a same "hp" rating as the GTR, everyone knows that cannot be farther than the truth. I also believe most people know that the 280HP marked in Japan is a gentleman's rule and has no bearing on real performance numbers. A 3600pound car, with 280hp will not pull low 12s in the 1/4 no matter what technical wizardry is put into it. 280hp rating for the GTR is bogus, its well known. Its more like 320+.

Re: S2000 - Got Dusted!!!

I own an S2000 and a G35 auto Sedan. A friend owns a G35 Coupe with a 6 speed. I can honestly say that the race with my G35 sedan isn't close and with the Coupe it's a driver's race. The G35 coupe is MUCH easier to drive to its limits. If I put my friend in my S2000 while driving his G35 Coupe, I can kill him because he doesn't understand how to get the most out of the S2000.

Re: S2000 - Got Dusted!!!

For the guy who said the M3 was more of a straightline car is out of his mind. I have a new M3 and it has 50/50 weight distribution. It carves turns like no car I ever owns. It stays gripped and then shoots off in the straights. That video was a joke. First of all a M3 would have smoked all the cars off the line and kept the lead the whole way. It was a promotional video for the Z. I see the S2000 not being able to hang on a road course due to the high powerband. But a M3 would dust a G or Z in a race. Get you facts straight!!!!
