There has never been a Lightning offered as a manual from the factory....if there has ever been one it had a tranny swap...

I read it on a mustang forum before.
Many owners said they are running about 350WHP stock and some even have over 370WHP.
May be Ford is under-rating the crank HP?

Former 03 Cobra owner and yes, 360 at the fly was normal...they were underrated from the factory. Mine topped out at 480 to the wheels after the normal bolt ones. You did not say what year cobra you messed with, the 99-01's came 320 to the fly so about 280 to the wheels...

As to the question G v. Lightning.... lightning FTW. The gearing is way different between the two vehicles. Of course the G will run to higher speeds.... but most races.... 1/4 mile.

As for the Cobra... a 2003 / 2004 (almost no Terminators have no mods) pulley swap and exhaust puts them over 400 to the wheels. The new thing now for Cobras.... taking the Eaton blower off and putting on a Whipple or KB.... those that do are making mid 500 to 600hp to the wheels.

Just so you guys know.... 2003 / 2004 Cobras.... very different then pre 2003

i think stock for stock, lightning is lil slower than Ram SRT10 (IT IS the fastest production made truck in the world). however, like some have said, most lightnings are NOT stock, and with a supercharger in there, i would believe that its more mod friendly than the RAM 10...so when one is moded, i would put my money on the lightning!

The Dodges do put out some incredible power.... the problem is the power to weight ratio is out of wack. My friend has the SRT 10... and wants to get rid of it because it is a big fat heavy pig.... he actually wants to put the SRT 10 engine into a lightning

Actually, it was recently dethroned by a Holden Ute. It's basically the front of a Holden Monaro or Pontiac GTO with a truck bed and packs an LS2 Vette motor. Gotta love aerodynamics.

Here's a picture of it:

And for giggles, here's a picture of an 1895rwhp Active Automotive Holden Ute
