My Car was stolen this morning
I cant take this , I cant take this, not another day not another day. In a POS Chevy Cobolt with out power window. Reminded me of that commercial with the guy and the mocking bird for the job section.
no forced entry, no punched ignition (yes, any car can be stolen, do not think your alarm/security/key fob system is anything), nothing stripped, lots of high value personal property (which is seldom covered on an auto policy, and then only on high dollar super rich people policies), minor damage found on the side of the road is lots of 'red flags'. I am not saying you crashed your car and reported it stolen, but your own admission states you cannot remember where you even parked it after partying like a rock star, that being said, the insurance company has reasonable reason to at least suspect you did. almost all auto thefts are by professionals for professional reasons-- they need your parts. be very careful what you say and write (yes, they may see this- I used to be a stolen car adjuster and I read lots of forum confessions) and make sure you are doing the right thing. better to have a collision loss than a felony fraud. again, I am not saying you did anything wrong (except drunk driving) but you are going to be looked at pretty hard. fortunately, unless the police have an 'open investigation' on you, the insurance company has to pay your claim in a resonable time or they are commiting 'bad faith'. Without knowing the exact laws of your state, or reading your policy, I cannot say what this reasonable time is (30-45 days I would guess). this is if you comply with them 100%. if you hesitate to give a statement or anything, you can add time to that. regarding your policy, read your comprehensive exclusions and you will know immediately if personal property is covered. some policies have a limit, some have an allowance for cds, most cover zero. good luck

I feel for ya and hope you get this whole mess is resolved to your satisfaction ASAP. I know where you’re at because when I was about 25 (I’m 45 now), I had my black 1984 Dodge Daytona Turbo stolen in broad daylight while it was parked in front of my office where I was working on a Saturday. I walked out to the parking lot to drive home and WTF where is my car?!?!
28 days later the police called me and told me they found my car abandoned on Tioga Pkwy (Baltimore, MD), and to come down to the impound lot to claim my car. When I saw the car, I was shocked and pissed... it was a total mess, not wrecked though, just really badly jacked-up. I had to fight Geico for every dollar to get the car fixed and restored to its previous condition. I even had to threaten them with filing complaints with the State Attorney General’s Office and the Maryland Insurance Administration.
So I’m with you on this one... fight for every dollar your entitled to under your auto insurance. I'm sorry this happened to you.

Oh and the sunglasses was still in the glasses holder. I guess the thief didnt notice the hidden compartment.
not too much to ask at all. sounds like they may be a bit off on customer service or backlogged or both. make sure you check the car out pretty well. we used to find that gangbangers would like to tag the car somewhere like the visors, seat backs, inside of glove box--stuff like that. they will go back and fix it for you but this sort of thing would not usually be seen until the owner got it back out of the shop and noticed it the next time he lowered his visor.
as far as the police looking at you/ ins delaying your claim-- this happens very seldom. unless you are part of a major theft ring, the cops could care less about you, either as a susp or a vic. most departments will have one, maybe two detectives in autos, and they are trying to bust shops.
I wouldn't worry too much, it is a hassle and is going to take some time, but it will usually work out in the end. too bad about the reimbursement part of the rental- couldn't the ins co set up a 'direct bill' with enterprise or hertz ect. that's what we would always do.

I think its time to talk to my lawyer and write a letter to the local Insurance Administration.
