My Overstock unit was brand new, and covered by the warranty according to Escort. Radar Roy's "chat" with an unknowledgable Overstock CSR does not mean a thing, IMHO. (The confused and obviously half-a-brick short of a full load CSR didn't even look at the product page until the end of the chat, so was obviously initially assuming it was a product that was refurbished, then actually did advise correctly of the manufacturer's warranty.)

My Overstock chat (earlier in this thread) and my conversation with escort pulls the rug out from under Radarbusters' blanket claim. Overstock is an authorized dealer for new units, again according to Escort. Go ahead and call Escort if you do not believe, and ask the rep to confirm this with their marketing dept if they are uncertain.

Radar Roy also calls this detector the best, when the Valentine One can arguably make that claim, too (he can't sell Valentines, so he conveniently doesn't mention that).

Oh, and the "forum" he mentions to confirm his facts? He owns http://www.radardetector.net.

Factory reconditioned means exactly that...its been RETURNED TO THE FACTORY and reconditioned (parts replaced, new packaging, and sealed). They do not have to mark on the outside or inside of the box if it is factory reconditioned. The items are like new from the factory, so of course it sealed. It's the same reason why Fry's electronics sells many things for so cheap...they're factory reconditioned. If overstock.com says it recond'ed it probably is...

Wouldn't they have to list it as factory reconditioned on their site if it is? I would think they would have to inform potential customers if they are or not...

I just got my Bel RX65 from them yesterday. I didn't see this thread so I missed out on the 20%, but I got 12% off for being a 1st time customer so it was still a good deal. Nothing indicating it's a refurb; whereas other items on their website indicate so if applicable so I'm hoping....
