5AT Manumatic downshifting
#17
My M-Mode doesn't do anything on it's own, unless I either up OR down shift it. It only downshifts on it's own when I come to a stop without downshifting and it goes to 1st gear...but I'm never rolling when it happens.
I just tested it...was in 3rd - slowed down to almost 5 MPH and then hit the gas - car stayed in 3rd the whole time...did it about 5 times.
Maybe you have an issue with the trans - maybe visit the dealer???

I tested that a long time ago by limiting the vacuum in the car and the shifting went sluggish...
There are TCU updates also available from the dealer - they only affect certain years though...not sure which ones...

It should only downshift for you automatically when you are going really slow. Usually like under 5 mph. I find that more out of conveniance for me anyways, and I still have control over it.
As far as the downshifting at higher speeds, and the car reving high and slowing down.. that's what it's supposed to do. It has rev matching, and engine braking. You'll notice that the car will be significantly faster though if you press the gas pedal.
