One of my belts start screaming when I start the car up sometimes and when I throw it into neutral and rev it, again this belt screams.. Ive replaced the AC belt because I originally though it was that since it seemed to go on when the a/c was kicked on but recently it being cold in FL i havent used the ac but the damn belt keeps making noise.. any idea which? didnt think it would be the serp

have you contacted a stealership sevice department and gotten a dry diagnostic? they may be able to give u a clue of what it is over the phone if you word it correctly so they dont tell u to come in before they tell u so they can charge you if ur out of warranty

when u replace a belt they need to be tightened after a couple of months... and the retightened a couple of months later after that and then prolly never again... i had the same problem when i replaced my pullies... it should take an efficient mechanic like 30 minutes to tighten them properly.

i agree with filanj ... i say take it to a stealership for diagnostics man...

make it the dealers problem right away... i wouldnt mess around with guesses.. i always call them up and tell them to fix it even though they say nothing was wrong and they "didn't fix anything" yet magically it is fixed after taking it in

Just go buy some belt dressing and spray it on the belts...

You can get it at any auto part store, it adds a kind of sticky liquid to the belt so it does not slip which is causing your squeeking.

do NOT use belt dressing on serpintine style belts..only spray silicone....check to see if the belt is too lose . check after rinning about 10min ..

haha, no it is basicly a a pretty sticky substance that helps the belt grip the pullies.

belt dressing causes serpintine belts to come apart...it was designed for v belts to increase grab on the sides where it makes contact with the pully..
i know spray silicone seems way wrong but thats what u use..if u have severe belt slipping on super charged or high out put motors try using V.H.T. in a small bottle... its a trick for supercharged lightnings/cobras [ dont tell anyone ]
it does however reduce belt life...............

i hear slipping noise from 1.5k - 3k rpm in the first 5 mins of driving, then it doesnt happen till i park the car for a while. kinda sounds like tires rubbing but its coming from the hood. what is this? i do have a crank pulley and i had the belts tightened last week but i still hear the noise.

You sure your belt is slipping, and it's not your tensioner pully going south? On my other car, I had the tensioner pullies go out, and it makes a terrible noise when it's on it's way out.

the belt dressing wont really help i tried like 3 different brands... if ur belts were loose for a while and this isnt a recent problem then ur belts could be damaged.. i would get some gates belts and have them put on.. retighten them 2 or 3 months later and u should be fine...

if you've had ur belts tightened and its still squeeling then its ur belts that need to be replaced.

hopefully just tightening them makes it better =\
when i got my pulleys and belts installed the next day it screamed. took it back to the shop they tightened it and i was all set
