Question Aftermarket Horn Upgrade?

Anyone here upgrade their stock horns to something louder? I'm not talking about those train horns some idiots are putting in their cars/trucks... but something like the nismo horn or something that's small, but noticably louder?

nice upgrade, changed the sound, but IMHO it was a bit more quiet than stock.

More quiet, huh? I looked at your other thread. Did you ever paint them or wire them parallel with your stock horns for an added affect?

I searched around for the loudest replacement horn that I could find, and stumbled across the Stebel Nautilus electro pneumatic air horn. This thing puts out 139 dB! How loud is 139dB you ask? A Firecracker or gunshot is ~140dB! [Source: Howstuffworks.com]

It is a compact air horn, with the twin horns attached directly to the compressor. Very popular with the motorcycle crowd.

Online retailer Twisted Throttle and various eBay merchants stock it.

It's very compact and fits easily behind the grill. I wish I bought two!

I had a local stereo shop install it for ~$30.

A comparison between a stock horn and the Stebel Nautilus Compact can be found here:

I'm very pleased and use it almost everyday!

My room-mate in college installed the air-horn off a Ferarri in his M3. Is that considered rice? I don't know about it being louder, but it was definately different sounding....

hey day177017, I guess I'm one of those idiots you are talking about since I have the train horn (hornblasters train horn) you are talking about in my G, but I love it and many passengers get a lot of laughs when I scare people with it (except for the elderly and babies in strollers, everyone else is game ) you can't even hear our stock horns when you honk at somebody while they are in their cars. My horn has saved me from a lot of other sorry a$$ drivers not even watching and trying to merge into my lane. I'm probably one of the only few who on G's who has this horn. You can also try getting a hella horn. I had one of these in my Acura Integra GS-R before. Sounds like a Ferrari horn. Good luck, if you ever want to hear my horn or see my set up (since you also live in socal), just pm..........

those hornblaster videos are hilarious.

I got a similar effect the other day .........I was accelerating down a street and a couple of kids (13-14 years old) turned around to see what ws coming. You can hear the turbo whistling pretty hard. When they turned around, I let off the gas and when the raptor BOV squealed, they both jumped back from the sidewalk. It was really funny, and I was thinking about the hornblaster videos after if happened.
