Brand new coupe in the garage

Got my brand new Black / Willow 6MT coupe on Saturday, and WOW what a car. Sometimes I'll run downstairs to my garage and just look at it. It was bought at the local dealer, and I actually got a super deal on it. Considering it's a 2003, the dealer gave me the car for 34,300 plus body side moldings and splash guards for free (Weren't available on 03 models.)

The car is perfect, but I had a couple questions.

-I'm getting a winding noise from the rear of the car when accelerating, is this normal? Anybody else experienced it?

-Does the clutch loosen up after a little bit of a break in? It seems a little bit firm. Currently at 350 miles on the car.

Thanks for any help, and it's great to be part of the forum. I think I'm gonna go for a ride as a matter of fact

Wind Noise - unfortunately this is not a very quiet car inside. I notice a lot of outside/wind noise as speed increases. It is one of my few complaints with the car. If I could figure out exactly where it is coming from, I would try to insulate the area. It does seem to be coming from the back of the car as you mention.

I'm sorry, I meant to say whining noise, not wind noise.

the clutch will get less stiff after a while.......there is also a way to adjust the height of the engagment point... try a search on the freshalloy.com forum for info on that.

You have to roll down your windows and turn off the radio to hear it. It sounds normal actually, but I'm just making sure.

gsg, I've not so much noticed the wind noise, but the first time I drove on wet pavement it sounded like I had the back windows down...and of course there are no back windows to go down in this car! I simply crank up the stereo a little louder.

uhh... splash guards and moldings were available in 2003 as well. could be a simple oversight, but make sure he isn't "stretching" the truth on other things as well. congrats.

not to be nit-picky...but body side moldings and splash guards were available on '03 models.

Some gear whine is normal with the car. If its not obtrusive with the windows up and the radio on low volume, then its ok. You can try to change out the gear oil too. It may help a little.

Maybe they were available, the dealer salesman said they weren't. Oh well.

It's funny the things a dealer will say to try and make you feel like you're getting more for your money. If you wanted them, then getting them for free is always a good bonus! Nice work!
