I'm getting some serious wheelhop...need some advice
Ok lately more then ever, if i lauch my car with any hint of wheelspin, i get wheel hop like a ****. It almost feels like the back of the car is going to break. I really dont remember this car ever doing this at all, and now its more then ever. My 2 questions are 1, what exactly could be causing this, and 2 (this is the hard part) I want to bring it in to service but how the hell do i tell them it only happens when my tires spin....there answer is going to be because im abusing the car (which i really dont, but occasionally get on it).

My biggest problem with wheel hop was the tires. I got softer tires and it fixed the issue. Are you F/I?
Other fixes can be added or combined to lessen or eliminate the hop..
i.e. stiffer differential and subframe bushings, Adjustable shocks, stiffer springs, subframe connectors.
Good luck.

i don't really get wheel hop unless i'm just being ridiculous with the launch. Launch at 2500~ rpms, and see if that helps. Just be smooth with the clutch and gas, and you should get a nice strong launch without bogging or hop.

oh... I don't recall saying this was on the street.
You must be the only guy on a "performance" car forum that goes to the track.
Mid Ohio is all of 40 minutes away from my apartment in columbus.

wheel hop is due to a "give" in your suspension. torque develops and compresses your rear end upward. the rebound in your suspension will push it back down. most of the time, stiffer suspension parts cure the problem...the easiest part to replace being bushings. my 300z use to have horrible wheel spin until the performance shop guy recommended this fix.

yep...it is deflection in the suspension arm bushings.
unfortunately, no one makes a better bushing set. you only choice is to buy aftermarket arms.
I went with the SPC rear camber arms and it eliminated my wheel hop issues.
BTW, I think only the "sport" G35s have the problem....this is due to the limited slip differential. The non-sport package Gs don't get it because they just do the 1-wheel peel!
