stupid question

i just got my 03 infinity g35 auto, (wifes daily driver) and i heard something the other day that i didnt believer and still dont really, but wanted to know if to some extent was true or not. i was told that if you change the wheels on the g35 you will start having problems, computer im guessing, like the car eventually might not even start.?? the person that told me this said they heard it from the dealership. is there any truth to this, do i need to know something before i change my wheels? thanks, russell

and where is the best place to start looking for packages with good prices.

Well they make anything from a 17" to a 19" for these cars stock... That just doesnt sound right... probably some new guy at the dealership thinking he knew something. Never heard of wheels hurting a cars other than the wheels breaking (Maybach Mercedes came into my dads work where the wheels had collapsed.)

Yeah half of the threads in the wheels section are about how are cars aren't starting anymore. BUT OUR WHEELS LOOK GREAT!

Totally kidding.

There are no stupid questions..............

This sounds very much like someones talking out there a**! I wish someone
would have told me that. I would have been in there face instanly with a
reply of "your full of ****" or "don't make comments on subjects you know
nothing about." That's crazy!

^^^Or I use this one...........
'DONT INSULT MY INTELLIGENCE...WHO DO YOU THINK YOU'RE TALKING TO' ...
Love the look in their face when they know they just got caught in their BS.

But in a very slight defense to that idiot, have heard VDC problems if the outside tire diameters from front to rear are a big difference, so keep that in mind.

The only thing that could go wrong after replacing the tires is the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) but that can be easily be reset.

No drop still looks ok, imo. But a drop looks nicer on any wheel size. It's a matter of personal taste.
If you want to see my 20's without and with a drop, let me know. I have pictures of both set-ups and can post here or PM you with them.
My AVI is with a moderate drop, not slammed on 20's.

I'm running:
fronts - 20X8.5 wheels with 20 os on 245/35's (no rubbing issues with drop)
rear - 20X10 wheels with 25 os on 285/30's (rubbing issues if you drop too much or must roll fenders)
A different off-set could solve the rubbing issue, plus 285's are meaty.
Some or I guess most ppl prefer the 275's for the stretched look and most likely have less or no rubbing issues, but I like the meat so I have some rim protection from curb rash on those bad judgment days. Plus I like that look better than stretched, but that's me.

Check out TireRack.com. Their site tells you the staggered oem sizes and sizes that work with 20's.
