Has anyone sucessfully backed up an '06 NAV disc?
I searched and found nothing but info on earlier successful backups of the NAV disc.
I used the method that was mentioned in the postings:
1/ Use a Verbatim DL disc ( the only one they said works )
2/ Use Clone Cd
3/ Make sure the burner can be set to 'book type; which makes it a DVD-ROM
4/ Burn at the slowest speed IE 1x
We did all that and the access time of the backup is painfully slow. When you try and enter a route or destination it takes 20 seconds between entering the letters of the town you are trying to get to! While driving the car the disc can keep up with where the car is located but that's all. Other wise it's useless. I can hear the NAV unit trying its darnest to read the disc but there's something wrong somewhere. The OEM disc is fine btw.
My disc version is 7.1 and the car is an '06 coupe. Before I spring for a newer disc I'd like to have a backup that WORKS like the original.
I have no DL burner so I can't experiment with different media types.
Thanks to all who reply!

I successfully backed up mine.
You don't need to use a DVDxCopy/CloneDVD/mumbo jumbo software to backup the Nav DVD. All you need is a DVD Burning software such as Roxio/Nero/Blindwrite software.
Just follow these DIY steps:

You don't need to use a DVDxCopy/CloneDVD/mumbo jumbo software to backup the Nav DVD. All you need is a DVD Burning software such as Roxio/Nero/Blindwrite software.
Just follow these DIY steps:
- Insert the original infiniti G35 GPS Nav DVD into your DVD Burner with dual-layer capability
- Run Nero Burning Rom software (I used Nero Platinum v7.0.14)
- Select a DVD Copy compilation
- Under Image tab, create the name of this DVD copy compilation (ex: Infiniti.nrg), uncheck the option for Delete image file after disc copy if you want to make multiple copies.
- Click on the Copy button to start copying the GPS DVD into your temporary folder
- Once the copy is completed, the original DVD will be ejected automatically from the DVD drive and you will be prompted to insert a new blank disc.
- Now, please insert a new DVD+RL (Dual Layer) disc. The software will automatically burn the temporary image into this new DVD+RL disc.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

As I originally stated, my copying was successful too. But when the dupe is loaded into the car it takes forever for it to access when attempting to enter a city or street.
My questions are:
1/ Have you actually USED the copy in the car and if so how was the access time compared to the OEM DVD? Mine appears that it works fine while driving, except when trying to enter destinations etc. its dreadfully S L O W
2/ You mention DVD+RL numerous times I am not familiar with this name, we used a Verbatim DVD+R DL disc to make ours. I don't know what an 'RL' disc is, can you tell me?
3/ What brand of DL burner did you use?
4/ What brand of DVD+DL did you use?
Thanks again!

The answers to your questions [GEVO]:
[1] Yes, I took out the original DVD and used the copy one for about a month with no problem.
[2] DVD+RL or DVD+R DL is the same term. It's just the shortest acronym.
[3] I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 notebook with an NEC DVD+RW Dual Layer Burn Capabilities model ND-6650A
[4] I also used Verbatim DVD+R DL (Dual-Layer) disc
Just to make sure the new disc is very clean with NO scratches on it.
