huge problem with rear speakers!!!

Trying to install my focal 165k2p's into the rear side panels of my car when to my extreme dismay there is absolutely zero clearance!! removing more paneling i see that i can cut the back of the speaker pod out, but another huge freggin problem, there is a structural brace going up each side of the car!!would you reccommend taking like a 4" notch out of that brace or would it cause a structural weak point? Please i need expert advice here!!!! i cant put these speakers in the rear deck cause ther rear deck grilles are only cut out for 6 1/2's i would have no room to install a tweeter, please dont tell me i just wasted a $1,000 on a pair of speakers that wont f*%kin fit.

You might want to check out the AUDIO section. Are you using spacers?

I was able to mount my XR650s in the rear with spacers, 3 layers of dynamat, and some "re-positioning" of inner sheet metal. Anything is possible.

xr650's are not as deep as the focals. with the speaker's magnet being stuck to the sheet metal behind the 6 1/2 plate, the plastic panel hits the speaker. If i were to use a spacer it would have to be like 3" thick. do you have any pictures?

i already hav e the k2p's installed in the front doors.

Wow. Those are pretty deep then. If you want them back there that bad you'll probably have to modify the 6x9 holes and mount them there.

Scosche SA69 6x9" to 6.5" adapter. Even has a spot for a tweeter. Never used them before but worth a try at $10.
