Oh yeah, it could have definitely been worse. You got lucky the deer hit more of the side of your car than the front. I hit one once (with another car) at 30MPH head on and it did $2500 of damage. Thanks to insurance, I only paid $85.

It's been fixed!

This thread is from last month and today I posted pics of the repair work. Somehow all the new posts are coming here.

We all have deer stories but thankfully mine is history (and yes, that is blood on the door :-(. Local body shop did a great job as you can see, negotiated well with insurance, detailed the car and everything. In the end it was about $1K out of my pocket for deductible ($500) and repainting the hood and LF fender at my request (lots of paint chips). If I had known I was going to get a new bumper in the process I would have asked for NISMO with a Gialla grill :-) All is well, my like-new G is comfortably in the garage, waiting for spring. Thanks for keeping the old thread alive (unlike the deer I'm afraid), but this is the current thread:

You got lucky from a damage standpoint. I think hitting a deer is definitely one of my driving fears. They can really eff' up your car..I saw the other post..repairs look great.

Hah hah, I know exactly what you are talking about. I've seen the delapitaded (sp?) fences there, and I always wondered if a stray cow would wander onto the road....

I had a friend hit a horse a while back near our house... He actually succeded in going after the owner of the horse to pay for the damages

Apparently in this state, failure to keep your animals properly secured is a punishable offense. I don't know if I would have the heart to ask the owners to pay for it if I killed their horse.

I've heard of people around here going after dog owners too when they get run over... Apparently in this city, it's illegal to have your dogs running around without a leash unless they are in a designated doggy area . (tho nobody seems to obey it)
