So my car just lost all power...

Yesterday when I was pulling into my apartment and waiting on the gate to open, all power inside the car slowly faded out. It was raining and below freezing, so I had quite a few things running, including windshield wipers, satellite radio, ac on heat, seat heaters, and headlights. I turned the car off at the key, put it in park and it also started right back up without any problems. I was wondering if anyone ever had this happen to them? My only guess is I somehow overloaded the system...

the battery was fine the last i checked (less than a month ago) but I will probably have to wait till i get home to check, i almost assumed i put too great of a load on the alternator/battery, and being that when you slow to a stop the accessory belt slows that it might be related

bad altenator or the connection to the altenator. Same thing happened to my hatchback. everything went dim. I turned off the headlights and a little bit of power came back on the center console, hit the turn signal or headlight and radio and everything would shut off. I checked the altenator and the cable that was connected to the ground bolt was loose and not making good connection.

Sounds like the alternator is going. You may also wanna check your battery connections.

Are there any aftermarket Alternators?

Which Battery would you recommend for a huge sound system, plus other things...

For all those who had a bad alternator, if it goes bad within the warranty, will they stealership replace it?

remember the stock battery is a serviceable battery, you need to add distilled water to it
