sedan vs coupe

I tried posting this in the Midwest forum, but got no responce.
Are there any stock 6MT Coupes willing to go for a friendly drag with my stock 6MT sedan? Or dyno back to back with me? Auto's welcome too, but I'm trying for an apples to apples comparison.
I've heard that the 6MT sedan isn't too far off from the coupe in terms of power, and want to prove or disprove it.

Re: sedan vs coupe

You won't get a fair comparison, unless both the drivers are near the same skill.

Not unless they both race each other a few times, switch cars then do it again then average out the times for each car.

Re: sedan vs coupe

Car & Driver tested the 6MT sedan at 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. In two separate tests of the 6MT coupe, they got 5.5 and 6.0. A pretty even call I'd say.

While the sedan has 20 less HP it probably makes up for most if not all of the difference with its lower weight.

Re: sedan vs coupe

actually, the weight difference between the 6MT sedan and coupe isn't all that different... the reason I want to test is that I've heard of people coming up with comparable dyno numbers. In an Ideal world, I'de like to race and dyno against soeone on the same day. I could dyno myself, but you know how dynos are-hard to believe unless they're back to back. Any takers? I do believe the coupe is faster... I just want to know by how much, and how to remedy that problem!

Re: sedan vs coupe

First of all the Coupe is only 35 lbs more then the sedan, which if u take 10hp away for every 100lb;s then thats only 3.5 hp thats been lost so the coupe still has a 15.5 hp advantage over the sedan. Also If you want to see the difference between the coupe and the sedan, going by the rule of statistics, u cant get the true results until repetitive tries. U should race about 3-4 times and take the average and if both drivers have been driving there cars for a while and are decent drivers then the results should be pretty accurate.

Re: sedan vs coupe

drivers race... which is why a dyno would be good. Also, four drags could even things out a bit. Each could do two in thier own car, and two in the others car. That would point out who the better driver was, and you could sort of adjust for it...
