I will keep you guys posted about the car. I'm still waiting for the adjuster to come out. Haven't made an appointment yet. I really hope they total it.

Wow, that sucks, but glad you're ok. Doesn't look like it was anything too crazy, just your typical rearender.

nope... not totaled.. my 1996 acura integra has about the same impact about 3 years ago.. my car had 130,000 mileage. Was hit by a toyota 4 runner at a stop light.. old fart was going about 45-60mph....

his insurance paid 4500 for the damages.. my car was probably only worth 6000 at most...

they also paid for my rental for about 1 month, got my repaired and an all around new paint job, and 10,000 for pain and suffering.

old fart who hit me said he'll give me $2000 cash if i dont report it. hahhahaha. yea right.

i was at the chiro for about 1 month.... and it took about 9month b4 the insurance paid me.

good luck with everhthing. its a FN hassle... been there and done it. i highly doubt the insurance will total it. maybe it it was a front end damage...

look at the jeep, wtf happend to it? nothing?

The insurance came by this morning, he said it looks really bad and most likely totaled. He has to do his calculations and research first. He'll get back to me later today.. I'll keep you posted.

That damage should be totalled. The parts are really expensive for the G. It pretty much needs an entire new rear clip, not to mention labor of cutting/welding back into factory welds etc.

I believe clip jobs are illegal...it's cheaper and faster for the bodyshop, that's why they do it...they usually take care of adjusters so they don't report it...I could be wrong though

Clip jobs are illegal? I never heard that. As long as its all welded properly and in its factory location it should all be fine. Body shops do the same thing, how else are they going to fix that? they *could* just pull it out, replace the rear 1/4's and the trunk lining metal etc but its easier to just do the whole clip

I worked as an accountant for a bodyshop...and i remember the shop manager saying aw crap, as the insurance guy came to check up on a car as it was

receiving a clip job...the insurance guy basically said fix my personal car and i won't report it...so i just assumed it was illegal...i'm guessing maybe they

were supposed to do a more extensive repair instead of doing a quick clip job...i can also see how a clip job wouldn't be as strong as pulling it back

out...if the car got into another accident i can just picture the car snapping in half...

You need to go to a doctor ASAP. You would not believe how often people think that their injuries are minor and will go away only to have something serious uncovered months down the line.

And by that time you are SOL if you have to pay bigtime medical bills due to the accident because they will come out of YOUR pocket. Even highschool football injuries can seem like nothing and develope into chronic pain a few years later.

Your body is the only one you have, so you better take care of it. See a doctor immediately and don't accept ANY mediocre amount of $$$ from the Jeep owner's insurance. Insurance companies will send you a couple hundred $$$, but if you cash their check then they are off of the hook for what could be thousands of dollars in medical expenses.

I know it may sound absurd, but taking one hour out of your time now to go get checked out could go a loooong way in the end. That impact is no joke and definitely enough to do some damage to you now and down the road.

^^ some good advice here. something to add... our vehicles have some of the worst ratings for rear impact. the seat is the main contributor. look how far the headrest is from your head when u sit (bad design/ergonomics!). there was a thread posted a while back with the links to the government ratings. our cars got the 'poor' rating... which is the lowest possible rating in that category. wish i could find the link to the thread.. but the search sucks.
