oh well..this might be my last summer in the coupe...
bought the coupe used 2 years ago, i'm on my third summer in a few months.
I reached 60000km....I will have to buy again 2 toyo t1r for the rear, I think I will sell it this summer to get something less expensive all around. I live in quebec Canada and with our winter it's not the best car around.
This car was a dream for me, it's definatly the best car I would ever drive.
Car is not completely paid, I'm a bit afraid that if I keep it longer and get more milleage im going to get harder to sell it.
My previous car where civic, toyota, acura....
I was thinking about a used audi a3 or a new "base" volvo c30....on the other hand I dont think theses car are more "cost efficient" than the g35 coupe...
I was also thinking about a 2006/7 Civic SI 2 door, more trunk space, front wheel drive in snow help a bit, 200hp, 8000rpm, better resale value. I could afford a new one without problems. (would be cheaper than my previous acura)
BTW, I'm 30 years old.

The A3 does not really impress me, instead of getting that you may as well spend a little more to get an Audi equiped with quattro. Definitely stay away from the entry level Volvo, my mother had one and it is a complete piece of junk. I talked her into getting a new Acura TL, she did and never looked back. The SI may be a good choice and you will pay under US$400.00 to replace all tires, unlike US$1k+ for the G. You may also want to look at the Acura RSX, it may suit you better. How about a VW GTI? I think they are a bit nicer than the SI/RSX, but that is just my opinion. My policy is to stay below my means, just get something you can "comfortably" afford.
Hehe funny statement about the rsx, I had one for 4 years!!!
Loved it and was cheap to run (was base 160hp + leather), I hated the suspension because was hard/dry as hell, car was bumpy. The g35 balance is so much better, even with 18 inches tires. I dont think I would go again for a rsx, anyway here in canada they have stopped the production.
I tought about the GTI, basicaly it's a cheaper 2 door audi a3...audi/vw allways had good balance on ride quality/handling suspension
The reason I got back to Honda is because their car is more predictable than audi/audi on repair...
The main reason I would drop the g35 is that, i'm affraid of costly surprise...I only paid Brembo pads and tire on the G and that's nice (costly but soo fun..).

Honestly, every time you buy a new vehicle, there are transactions costs that come with it. If you are almost paid off, you are essentially "losing" about $3k if you get a different vehicle. That is almost the cost of an entire transmission. If you like the car, keep it and invest that potential $3k in a nice stock and if you do it right, you should have $6k by the time the car actually needs repairs.
