If you're looking for lightweight, you bought the wrong car!

There yea go.

Trying to gut your car just to lose 100 pounds is not really worth it in less you drive your car on tracks a lot of time and want that little gain. But putting a supercharger or TT would help compensate that weight problem.

ehhh. gotta addmit that comment is getting annoying now a days
im sure he did buy the right car but theres a small aspect he wants to change..ie: weight

and I really wouldnt start gutting or taking peices out of your car because thats asking for trouble, your best bet is going with carbon fiber parts

Wow, way too many usless comments on this thread.

I'd like to take out the A/C. I did it on my last car but I can't find anyone thats done it to the G. Post me a link if you know some one thats done it.

Floor mats, spare, and jack, those things are a no brainer.

How about putting in hood pins and getting rid of the whole hood latch assembly. The Cable from dash to the latch, and all the metal parts could net you 10 - 20 pounds.

This is one reason I want to find a tear down manual for the G so I can read it and get rid of all the parts I don't want.

How do you remove the visors?

+1 ANd go with smaller wheels. Ive had 19"s aftermarket. And now (since one is damaged) I am back to the stock 18's. The difference is nite and day for me. So much more quicker in acceleration and highway speed.

if you're talking about rims, go down on size even more. i was looking at some 17's that weigh around 11lbs a piece...that's less than half the weight of hte stock 18's.

here is a huge pet peeve of mine with racers trying to lose weight: yourself. have you looked in a mirror? how much do you weigh? I love working at the bike shop and guys coming in to shave a pound or 2 off their dirtbikes, but they weigh 220lbs of fatty flab. hello?!? how about lose like 50lbs off your *** and it's free!

and on the note of the other cars mentioned....you can polish an srt-4 all you want, it's still a neon, which is a neon, which is a....NEON. uncomfortable high schooler driven car. even being 2900lbs they are still slower than the g stock in the 1/4 and they are putting down about 225hp to the ground, the g is about 10-15hp more to the ground and we still beat them in the 1/4. what's up with that?

Finally someone intelegent making a post. I'm 6'0" 185lbs and I am actually considering going on a diet (maybe even excercise) just to get some extra performance out of my G.

Additionally I am lookin for some 17s or 18s racing rims to put DOT legal street
racing tires on my car (for autocross of course). I'd prefer a dull black color if anyone knows of any PM me and I'll take a look at them.

seriously, i thought i was gonna get to the end of the thread without anyone saying this but you pulled through for me

also, if you're gonna be so obsessive about losing weight that you remove the floormats, why dont you make a habit of driving with your pants off too?

others that floor mat removers should consider:
-license plates
-sunglasses (leave 'em at home man)
-obviously debadge your car
-remove the safety trunk release handle (that's gotta be 4 ounces right there)
-cell phone
-SHOES!!!! drive barefoot for an extra .5 sec in the 1/4
-rear brakes (who needs 'em?)
-tire valve caps
-of course the plastic engine cover
-dipstick
-shave your whole body (arms, legs, EVERYWHERE)
-remove the leather from the steering wheel and shifter
-headliner on the roof of the car
-dome light

with all those, you could probably take some 911's to school, with no problem at all

if anybody else cant think of more to add to this list of ultra-heavy stuff to remove from the car, let us know
