minus the bickering and threadcrapping, it is primarily a discussion about weight saving modification. NOT about complaining. The only complaining that's been done is whining and moaning by you and others like you.
byebye MR. SHOR T BUS.
ignore list ftw.
back to the actual topic at hand,
I think the focus should be on ditching some weight around the front of the car, but unfortunately, there really isn't a whole lot there to be lost. I believe the hood is aluminum, so a CF hood would be not quite as cost-effective and I think a lot of the cf hoods aren't dry anyway.
I wonder how much carbon-ceramic brake rotors weigh... that would be a nice look, as well as being good for performance (assuming they actually do weigh less). If the rotors were substantially less heavy, match that up with light weight wheels, and that could be pretty significant. Of course, it'd also be very expensive.

So knowing that and I think paying $2500 for premium package is not worth it, I decided to buy a base '06 model this past summer.
Soon after I bought it, I removed carpet mats, spare tire and jack, and trunk mat. I also drive on a 1/4 tank of gas most of the time.
As a result, I definately feel a noticable weight difference from my last G which was a fully loaded '05 coupe.
According to the G website, a 6mt coupe weighs 3524lbs. I think it now weighs(with a 1/4 tank of gas) around 3400lbs.
If I remove the rear seat, I'll definately remove a decent amount of weight. Has anyone weighed the rear seat? If so, how much does it weight?

Yes, I know a Z is lighter than a G. However, some people want to be different and race a G instead. I've read Super Street and Import Tuner and notice Gs on a track.
Did you ever think rgolden90 eventually wants to take his G on a track?

If you don't agree with others that want to lighten their car, then this thread is not for you. Take your complaining some where else, not here.
Most of the weight comes from the coupes rediculously heavy body panels. If you want to do things right, have all your body parts made out of carbon fiber. That will save you a ton of weight. As for the doors, the doors weigh way to much IMO. If you can find some one that makes light weight doors for the coupe buy those and then share with the rest of us where you recieved them.

haha, and removing the trunk mat will make your car much faster. you can remove all the carpets, mat, seat, spare tire and all. the weight you save will not make any difference.
our car will still be slower then a s2000 stock for stock. can't not even compete with a sti.
get over it. our G is not a full sports car. its not ment to be raced with. people buy the G instead of an STI because the interior of the STI is crap compared to the G.
now you remove all that 'luxury' from the G, you might as well pick up a STI in the 1st place.
if you want to save weight, then remove the engine, cut a hole on ur floor board and run the G flinstone style.

You have your facts totally wrong. Our cars are not slower than a s2000. It is a drivers race.
Yes, STIs are faster than our cars stock for stock but some people want to be different and make a G track ready.
Ha..ha...your joke was totally stupid about removing the engine.
Like I said before, if you don't have anything positive to say about removing weight from a G, than you don't have any business posting a thread here. Get lost with your lame jokes and get your facts straight. You obviously don't know a whole lot about Gs and sports cars in general.

GO TO ANOTHER THREAD. NO ONE WANTS TO READ YOU WHINING AND COMPLAINING.
Nismo G brought up a good point regarding the panels being heavy. You see, he's trying to contribute something positive to this subject which is about reducing weight in a car. Of course it will be very expensive buying lightweight panels for our Gs. I am sure there is a shop that will produce it.
If I remember correctly, I saw on youtube.com four cars racing. S2000, G, BMW 3 series, and a WRX(non STI). All four cars were closely matched in performance. Towards the end of the race, that G finished first.
I am sure that G was lightened by 300-400lbs. So it is definitely possible to get a G track ready and competitive.
I know someone is going to ask me for a link for this video on youtube.com but I watched it over a year ago. Search for it on that website.
I can tell verbal assault has an attitude and I don't feel like getting into a forum battle so this is my last post for this thread. If you don't like what I've posted regarding weight reduction, then don't waste your time responding. Obviously you and I don't see eye to eye on this topic.
I had my G corner weighted today and it came out to 3390 lbs. That's with no spare and just over a half tank of gas. It's an 03 6 speed without nav or aero. I think with some lighter wheels, less gas, a lighter exhaust system, you could bring it down to 3300.

3300 pounds is a pretty good weight for a coupe.
