no, that was the straw that brke the camels back. I may have built the car up too much in my ownmind before finaly owning one. now that i own it, i'm just not satisfied with it. I wish the car made less noises it shouldn't, squeaks creaks and rattles, road noise, that sort of thing. i want something else, i'm just not sure what.
i have another car that i like so i'll just wait for something that is just right to come along.

I have been reading around the S2000 boards and they talk about the F20 burning some oil and having to add oil between oil changes.

Honda's Lawn Mower engine might run forever perhaps.

1qt/1000miles is the maximum rate of oil consumption that has been around for decades.

My 06 coupe has failed its consumption test. I'm going to take the car in a couple of weeks to get it fixed.

Interesting, I didn't know that and didn't know that was an industry standard.
I thought it was just Nissan who set that consumption rate when more and more of these VQ's were being reported with high oil consumption.
Thanks for the 411.

My Dealer sells the AEM CAI intake system.
Yeah...it would be hard for the Dealer to void factory warranty on any aftermarket mods relating that they sell.
For aftermarket parts they don't sell, there's the Magnuson-Moss Act for us.

what if they dont sell them?
I have an Intake and headder in my car. I am burning oil currently and was told it likely a Ring Issue.
They also advise me that they have to look to see if these upgrades have cause the motor to fail.
Do you think these can cause such a failure?

They have to prove that those specific mods caused the rings to fail.

imo, yes that's what it sounds like to me.
Call Infiniti Customer Service. They should know about this long ongoing problem by now.
Idk, maybe they can educate that Dealer and help you or go to another Dealer.

Definately go to another dealer asap. Also call Infiniti Customer Service there
is no way a missed shift will make you burn oil. This is getting to
be a well known issue with the vq motors I'm sure yours will not be the first
complaint about this issue.

i just got done with the test. good news, i'm not having problems with oil burning.

the reason for me to bring it because i was concern how the oil reading on the dipstick was getting lower and lower. dealership said it was normal. i'll make a retarded looking example of it.

oil change, dipstick reads:

H||||||||||L

200+ miles:

H||||||||||L

600+ miles:

H||||||||||L

900+ miles:

H||||||||||L

the dealership said ANYWHERE between the H and the L is normal. the only reading that would tell them that it is consuming oil would be passed L (meaning no oil at all). is this true?

i always thought consumption test would test how much it's losing, not how fast it's going to hit the L, right? i dont know. dealerships are *******s.
