Best batteries you can buy. Had one in the Cobra. The red top I think is for more normal use, and the yellow top is for more stereo modded cars. The cold cranking amps, individual cores so you can flip it any way and it still works, and the longivity make it a great buy.

^+1, car starts and idles more smoothly, I think it makes a bigger difference than a grounding kit as an electrical system mod.

Get them at Autozone. You don't have to pay shipping and they sell them really cheap. If I rememeber correctly, they are like $125 at Autozone for our cars last I checked.

They sell them at Costco. Im not happy with them. I had one on my last show truck. It was replaced under warranty. I think it was a freak thing so I bought another one for the G. It was also replaced under warranty. I wont buy another one. There was just a topic like this on the fishing forum I go to. A lot of boat guys had the same problems. I ended up buying the Costco brand for my new boat. They were about half teh price and carry a better warranty, three years. The optima's only carry a year.

You know what... I just checked the Autozone site, and they list the battery for more like $180 for the 34R now. Might have been a sale or something the week I was looking at Autozone or maybe the price just went up... or both.

This is the other place that I was looking at which cost slightly more than Autozone at the time(not sure how reliable they are as vendors though):

I think you have to buy a spacer for it to fit right in our bay too.

I agree with G352NV. They really aren't worth it. They promise alot, but if you look at what they promise, whos gonna leave a car in a parking lot for a year (and the warranty on the battery would be up by now) and see if it still starts after the wait. No one. They are great batteries, while they last. I went through 2 yellow tops in my old S-10 Blazer (only had 3 amps, 2 subs 1 interior) and one in my next S-10, which I will credit was probably more the fault of the actual system I had hooked to it, I ate 4 stock alternators before upgrading in that truck, which may have caused some premature damage to the battery. I found that costco/price club generic batteries last just as long for half the price. Some people have made comments that a Red top may have been preferable in both trucks, as I used them as nothing more than audio upgrades, but I wanted the highest CCA available. Save your time and invest your money in something else. Unfortunatly it is true, Optima is considered the pinnacle of auto/marine batteries, but theres really not THAT much setting them apart from your run of the mill battery.

Oh and G352NV, you got lucky, mine both went out after the warranty, so atleast I got the year they promised, right?
