My '91 Nissan 300ZX has 190,000 miles and doesn't burn a drop of oil.

My '04 G Coupe 6MT has 22,000 miles and is always on H when I check the oil. It seems the oil consumption problem is occurring mostly with the '05-'06 "Revup" engines for some reason.

It does seem like it is most in the Rev Ups but my service guy tells me that non-rev ups are having this issue too.

Lets not turn this into a Corvette bashing thread. It makes everyone involved look silly. Besides, you shouldn't need to do that to feel good about yourself. I only brought the Corvette in as an example. I have never had this sort of problem on any American car that I have owned.

That has just been my experience. I am not claiming to speak for all owners of G's or Corvettes.

I am not mad at their willingness to repair a problem (they are not replacing the engine anyway, evidently). It is not like they have a choice but to repair it since it is under warranty so they are not doing me any favors. I am mad at the need to address the problem.

My anger is directed at Infiniti not at my dealership.

I could understand the anger part. I keep my fingers and toes crossed
daily!

Hey boostedjustin why don't u keep your dumb azz opinions to yourself. BTW
Chevy had a problem wih their rings and oil cnsumption in the '01 Z06's they found the problem and it was a non-issue in the following years production.
So when you start bashing other cars you really should know what the fock your talking about.

+1...I agree. The problem at hand here is the G. The corvette thing is a completely different topic...

'90 Acura Integra GS 252,648 miles..hehehee..sorry had to copy..but I agree bro, I have the same model you got '04 G Coupe 6MT, drive the heck out of it with no problems of oil burning or those reported rattle issues with other G owners...so far we've been lucky. '04 6MT owners have reported fewer problems I believe.

Whenever my '91 300ZX finally dies (if ever), I'll get another one! There are still some nice ones with relatively low miles out there. The VG30DE is bulletproof.

Actually, all engines burn some oil. Even if your dipstick says you are at the same level at the beginning and end of your oil intervals, you have burned some and replaced the volume with other garbage that makes up for the difference.

the older model years arnt really having this problem. its mainly the new engines in the 05's and 06's and even then it's mostly in the revups but there are a handful of AT's that have the same problem. so you shouldnt have to worry about it

Hopefully they figured out a solution because my car failed its consumption test too and I dont want them to fix it by replacing a new motor that is just as likely to burn oil as the previous one. BTW I'm an 06 6mt premium as well with 15k though.

My dealership and I are waiting to hear from Infiniti regarding this solution.

At first I wanted a new engine, but if all they are doing is replacing it with an engine that is just as likely to fail then that is not an acceptable solution.

Lets keep this thread alive as there seems to be some movement at Infiniti (finally) to address this situation.
