New Engine

I failed my oil consumption test at 6000 miles. I burned through a quart in 1000 miles. My local Infiniti dealership is now working with Infiniti to get me a new engine.

What a joke.

I never had any problems like this with my Corvette.

That is a common complaint but I never had a rattle problem with mine. Of course, it was rarely driven.

how did you drive the car?

our G has a history of burning oil. i'm pretty sure its a recall, but infiniti wants to put a tight lid on it.

if its more them 3 cars with the same problem, then Infiniti needs to do something about it. so far i've read about 50+ cases.

I commute in it and not in stop and go freeway traffic. I live and work in the burbs.

I don't redline it, I don't race it and I have been driving manuals for almost 20 years so I how not to abuse it. I broke it in properly too.

This is extremely disappointing. My only other experience with a Nissan product was a 1979 280ZX that I owned in the late 1980's. That car was a total pile of garbage with some major mechanical issues. I had hoped that Nissan had taken car of its problems with quality but, I guess in my case at least, it has not.

BTW - It is a 2006 Premium with 6 speed.

It has just under 6000 miles on it. It has also already had a complete replacement of the clutch (TOB, PP etc...).

Now my dealership is telling me that Infiniti is not putting new engines in any more. Evidently, the new engines were just as prone to this problem.

Infiniti corporate is working on a solution to this problem and will get back to me. Meanwhile, I get my car back.

I am beyond upset with this company.

so, the knew that the engine were pretty much shlt, yet they refuse to replace you with a new one? i think that make sense, because why replace it with a new one, if it's going to happen again?

i think u should contact bogey's corner (if he's still around). or contact the media. give them that link above and it would show how many people have the same issues you do.

but, i read someone that they figured out why it was burning oil.. something wrong with a vaccum line or something of that nature.

It does make sense if they have figured out a real solution to the problem.

Replacing it and hoping for the best is the lazy way to go about it. I will keep you all posted on what happens. I will be on the phone with Infiniti Customer Service today.

yeah. I've heard nothing but complaints from the corvette guys when they try to autox as well. Plus, it's american, so it starts falling appart as soon as it comes off the production line lol.
