i just got a shift light and was wondering what RPM i should set it for

1 rpm? Without more info we can't tell you the optimal shift point

for daily driving? or for the 1/4 mi?

I"m curious about this, what do you guys set the RPM light for when doing daily driving? Nothing too aggressive. right now I have mine set at ~4500 RPM.

I have a 2004 6MT and I don't recall setting the RPM light! I thought it's factory set?

4k...by the time you shift you'll be at 4500

Look in the manual, its adjustable

Just scroll throught your tripometer unter you get the the rpm settings. Hold the button until you arrive at the desired rpm. FYI mine i set at 8k, so i never have to see it.

For daily driving? lol what happened to being in tune and shifting from the sound / feel of the car? Hell i dont even see a need for it on the 1/4 unless your FI and have to watch boost, egt, a/f etc gauges and dont have the time to look at the rpms. I came from a GST and had 3 gauges to watch and still didnt have a need for a shift light even on the track. Enlighten me.... please.

it all depends what you are trying to do. if you gun your car a lot you may want to set it for 7k (redline). if you want to set it for daily driving and keeping your speed in check i'd set it for around 3800-4000

i do it to keep my speed in check. when i'm on the highway and i see that red light blinking i slow down cuz it's annoying to see. lol.

The G has cruise control for that purpose. ????

If you can shift at the exact redline of the car just before hitting the rev limiter without looking at the tach and based solely on sound consistently, then you are a true driving master.

does the '04 even have a shift light?

redline? lol. It's not a mt car, the shift light is extremely stupid.
