Wheel-Hop

So, I'm new to this board and its a great resource of information about everything G35, But I can't quite seem to find anything in the search about how to stop the car from giving me a heck of alot of wheel-hop.

I've driven 03-04 Cobras and gotten less hop out of their IRS then my G. So what do ya recommend doing to combat this issue?

depends what you're trying to do?? launching? no more than 3k RPM's and you won't have wheel hop. If you're just driving normal and you're having wheel hop, then somethings definately wrong.. it might be your head playing tricks on ya

i use to get lots of wheel hop in the tt 300zx. i haven't had wheel hop problems in the g. take it into your dealer to see if there is anything out of whack in the rear suspension. if not, urethane bushings usually solve the problem.

Are you guys kidding, our cars have pretty severe wheel hop if launched wrong.

The trick is feathering the clutch. If you do a clutch drop it feels as if the suspensions going to blow out of the car.

I suggest 2700 to 3000 RPM and gently feathering the clutch right at the point of hop, then transition to 100% power. It takes practice and tires.

r u guys kidding lol!! this car has crazy wheel hop. As a matter of fact yesterday it was a lil rainy and i was accelerating normalyl from a stop sign and my tires lost traction where the thick white painted line is at all stop signs and started hopping insanely, so i pressed the clutch in and slowly went to 2nd gear and it stopped. but yea this thing hops for anything (p.s. i have 285 tires too!)

lol nice

I have experienced wheel hop, but that was back when I first picked the G up. The solution seems to be getting sway bars to counteract hop to a good degree. Like ResIpsa said don't launch over 3000 rpms and expect to be able to WOT it from a dig.

It sure did scare the **** out of the cars around me when it did happen. It actually helped me kick a C5's a$$ one time because the guy was scared sh!tless. (not promoting street racing (hypothetical occurance))

I only get it when I let off the clutch too quickly. Whenever I feather the clutch wheel hop is never an issue.

wheel hop shouldn't exist for fr cars. you are mistaken. only ff cars get wheel hop or cars that have completely screwed up suspension. This is why you can't find anything.
