How do they work, and where can you get them?

As everyone can tell I am not the most internet suave (still learning the smileys and abbreviations). I did however Wikepedia the word “pwned”. I think the usage was appropriate.

And Justin, most on this board would not count the turbonator as “boosting” their car.

Wait a second... that’s it. The turbonator prevents wheel hop.

Or is it having fat chicks in your car?

now there's a possibility, does a little negative camber from lowering springs have an effect?

I do want to note that it is harder to provoke wheel hop with my snow tires (good ol' Dunlop Winter sport M3).

I also recall that someone was talking about how they launched their coupe for a 1/4 track, and they had under inflated snow tires on, and got some good results. The latter, I can't verify the validity, but the former, I can definitely say is true.

Your right. But what got most of us going was a certain individual holding himself out to be an expert and posting clearly false information. Basically calling us liars.

If you told me your G shot fire out the tail pipes, I wouldn’t post information proving that it was impossible. I would inquire a little bit further. Then if five other members have the same problem I would start wondering why mine doesn’t shoot fire as well.

Back to the wheel hop... I found it interesting that snow tires were an improvement. Correct me if I am wrong, but snow tires are much softer. Assuming that you get less traction with snow tires on dry pavement (but this may not be the case), more traction may lead to more hop?

Maybe we need to start asking more about tire setup. I run Potenza’s and get wheel hop. Of course this is a base line because most on this board started with Potenza’s. Any experience with Toyo’s etc. and hop? If the above theory is correct, a softer tire would hop less.

Also, is their anyone that can absolutely confirm that switching to a stiff suspension helped. On the flip side, anybody switch to a softer suspension (i.e. H-Techs)? I would do some experiments but my G is in the shop (oil consumption issues).

I truly believe that if we could find a setup to minimize wheel hop our cars would be much quicker from a dig. Maybe welding a solid rear axle would help

I think when you put heavier and wider wheels on (aka wider tires), the wheel hop gets more severe. The snow tires might have much less grip so the wheels just spin.

Putting some coil blocks in the rear springs might help reduce this.

yea i would assume the stickier the tire...the more hop you would get. I know my friend has some rims on his car with 275's in the rear, and while his car experiences alot of hop, i dont think its as bad as our stock potenzas...but i didnt really wanna abuse his car bad so i dont know for sure.
