LED conversion from Clearcorners.com

Some of the best work I've seen yet on the G35 coupe.

Wow that looks cool, but I'm pretty disappointed they didn't do the "angel eyes" mod that the sedan gets. It's where they put a ring of white LEDs around the high and low beam bezel, and it looks amazing IMO.

They sure make some nice products if your are RICH! I can't believe the price they are asking for the headlights... nearly $1000. They are out of the f-cking minds! They should have some swap out/exchange program or something.

I especially like this blurb in the about us section of their site:

Established in 1992, ClearCorners.Com has strived to offer custom-fabricated lighting products to sports car enthusiasts seeking the absolute most unique lighting available for their car. We do not work on trucks, SUVs, or sedans; we focus solely on sports cars that are praised by enthusiasts around the world for their craftsmanship and great tradition.

If this is true, then why are they making sedan headlights, sidemarkers, and taillights?

Cmon guys, get on the ball with your web-site!

Yea OUCH, almost a grand for some clear plain jane lights. That's a bit steep! Its one thing to offer your services for a reasonable fee, but at thier pricing, its like getting jacked!

Ok maybe a grand won't go too far on a G like it could on some domestic cars, but I can think of a whole lot of other mods I would rather shell out my hard earned $$$ for....

Just email the guy. He can do "whatever you want." He can do the Angel Eyes if it is possible. I was a bit disappointed with the final result. But I think that might be due to the customer who wanted to keep it conservative. Night shots would be cool as well.

Re: LED conversion from Clearcorners.com

I inquired about the angel-eyes for the coupe and was told it couldn't be done due to the fact that it would interfere with the low-beam pattern. Here is there exact response:

The Coupe will not be available with LED rings, the design of the inside of
the headlight does not allow that. We can fit rings on the lower area but
not the upper. Plus, if we DID attempt to mount them on the upper chamber
they would effect the low-beam lighting pattern.

Re: LED conversion from Clearcorners.com

Funny, the parts probably cost less than $15 total for the LED cluster and all. Out of the $1000, $950 is probably for 'labor.' I don't think too many people would be paying that much for some LED lights.... and if people were actually buying them, then it wouldn't be long before competition jumps in to drive down the horrific price.

Secondly, if you look on the backside of the G35C headlight, you'll see the clear stripe on the side can be fully access from behind by a simply drill. A row of LED lights can then be inserted individually into the stripe. My only concern with that method is weather proffing, but that certainly won't cost you $900. (btw: I'd use 6-7 Bright LED's instead of a two dozen small ones)

Re: LED conversion from Clearcorners.com

Why is it that BMW angle eye look so much cooler? Are they fiber optics instead of LED? I guess by cooler I mean solid not a series of dots. And, I like the LED taillights on the G but the strip of LED's in the clearance looks kinda' lame IHMO. I've ordered a LED bulb for my clearance light in hopes of lighting up more of the whole light and less of the amber quality.

Yea, the BMW-style DDE's are fiber optic, not LED

Re: LED conversion from Clearcorners.com

There was a thread about a mod like that not too long ago, but I don't remember if it was in this forum or in Tech/Mods. Either way, it had something to do with putting your lights in the oven so that you could open them up. Whoever did it said they just broke the amber part out of the housing and put the light back together. Don't take my word on any of that; it's just what I'm remembering.

Not 100% but I think E_K did it when he moded his lights by puting BMW X5 projector lights in and also changed out the turn signals to clear.

If you just want to take out the orange reflector, it's not that hard. Though not as easy as I would that thought it would be. You can easily do it yourself in an afternoon. Or I could do it for $75.
