Here is the condensed version of what happened:

The truck was a flat nose truck. The passenger side corner of what carries the cargo hit into my car. The front edge of the truck’s “cargo box” wasn’t even damaged. There was only paint transfer from my car.

This is the truck that hit me What is the x'ed part of the truck called? :

This is a paint version of what happened:

I was making a right turn. A truck that was behind me decided to cut in front of me even though there was no room. He kept on going and eventually crushed my car.

My driver’s side front fender was crushed. The truck punctured a hole into my car. My headlight is damaged. It looks like it was crushed downward. My front bumper is damaged. It seems misaligned. My hood doesn’t open. I don’t know what else is damaged. The whole time my car was STATIONARY. I should not be at fault because my car was not even moving at the time.

It would be very unfair to me to have a blemish on my insurance record because of what an inexperienced truck driver did to my car. I still haven’t contacted my insurance company yet. What should I do? I am so lost. Can I sue the truck driver or his insurance company to pay for all of the damages? I tried contacting traffic lawyers and accident lawyers, but they don’t work on this kind of case. What other lawyers should I contact? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Post#2 has the details so it won't overwhelm this first post.[/QUOTE]

from your diagram, it appears that you were at fault because you made a right turn and hit the truck while he was going straight. You need to clarify it more.

i would agree that very detailed.. are you a cop ?

unfortunately... I will say that this a small damage, and, I know will sound dumb to you, but don`t worry,,, it is SMALL nevertheless, at the same time I REALLY know how it feels when some thing happens to the G... last summer, my G was scratched at the club entrance, I only found out about that on the next day I did not even got an insurance

take good care of the car and be back on streets

Hey, I feel for you bro - my car just got wrecked recently also. Detailed info such as diagram, time, place, direction of travel, speed, traffic condition, road condition, weather, license plates, witnesses, photos...all important and good to report the incident to the insurance company.

It looks like the truck made an illegal and unsafe turn around you! Hope everything works out and just glad you're not hurt! Take care and good luck bro.

Go through your insurance, but make sure they know that you were making a right turn, not a U turn and that you were using your signal and it was the truck “behind” you that hit you. I say this because in North Carolina there is a very little known law that basically states that if you are making a U turn it doesn’t matter what happens it’s all your fault. I had a 97 saturn SC2 and pulled a U turn at about 5 mph and was hit by the truck behind me going about 35 bent the frame, the axel, and my tire rim and the worse part is it was all my fault! Total bull ****. I dont know how the laws are where you are but hope it all works out.

No,if he was a cop he would've known better haha,no offense. To have the police on scene and he would've already talked to the insurance company, nor would he be asking the question of who was at fault. They are quick to point that out. On the other hand,I'd say to fix your car,be around 2500 bucks or so. Just my guess,I've cracked up enough to get pretty decent at it. To repair, you can't,so you will need a new bumper, and then they will have to see how all the brackets underneath held up,or whether you will need all new brackets for the headlight bumper and so forth. It's going to have to get painted to match as well.So i'm guessing you are looking somewhere around that range, especially if it did misalign the bumper. Was there any scrapes on your front bumper due to this?So I'd go with 2k to 2.5k.

atleast an 18 wheelers lug nuts didn't drill a 12" hole thru your drivers side door like it did to my GF's car. i'm sorry to hear about the whole ordeal none the less
