...I am looking at the '06 and down G35's. I had heard that all manuals have the limited-slip diff. Is this true? If not what is the easiest way to tell? again '03-'06...
Thanks,

Yes all manuals do have limited slip! I know that there is a special code under the hood on one of the metal ID tags!

Viscious limited slip and vdc are two entirely differnt things. Viscious limited slip is refering to the differential. VDC is traction control. Viscous is clutch packs held in fluid, the fluid becomes the friction modifier for the clutches and controls torque to the back two wheels. VDC is what keeps you from spinning the rear tires. All manuals should have them. I just changed the diff fluid on my 03... and yes it has it. Viscious has been an option from the start of the G.

Yes, some 5AT's have VLSD. For example, on the 03-04 G35C 5AT Canadian Perfomance package version (fully loaded plus rear spoiler, 18" wheels), VLSD is included. I'm not sure about other years though...

Well for 05 and 06 g35 coupes..
all manuals have VLSD because all manuals
come with the sport tune suspension package..
for automatics.. ONLY the ones with the
sport tune suspension package comes
with the VLSD.. the autos w/ the 18in
or 17in rims does NOT come with it..

If you want to make sure, jack up the rear end and spin one of the rear tires. If the other tire spins in the same direction, you have LSD. If it spins in the opposite direction, you don't have it.

nice didn't know I had it, always thought 05s and up had em only, cause on infinitihelp.com it showed vsld, but for anything lower the LSD info was hidden in the tire options......
any difference b/w vlsd and lsd? cause the infinitihelp was only showing 03 and 04 having lsd

Try some drifting, if your drift angle is less than 15 degrees and you lose speed really fast - you don't have VLSD. If your drift angle is more than 15 degrees but less than 30 degrees, then you have VLSD. If your car can drift greater than 30 degrees stock, then you are probably not driving a G35.

Lsd comes in several flavors. There is a mechanical LSD like the one in the evo and the viscous lsd like the one in the g35. The g35s that have the lsd is all viscous (vlsd). The mechanical type is better.Originally Posted by netcbc
