So Pissed at my Dealership!

So Pissed at my Dealership!
Aight, went in for a 7500 mile service and they found a nail in my tire (6MT coupe - 245/45/18 tires on the rear)... Unfortunately, the nail was the near the sidewall (within 1 inch), therefore they said that I needed a new tire and after seeing the nail personally I agreed.
What pissed me off is that they wanted to charge me $482 for the tire and labor to install! Here is the breakdown:
1) Tire cost = $390
2) Service = $60
3) Tax = $32
Now, what the HELL are they doing charging me $390 on a Michelin Pilot sport tire? Are they out of their GOD DAMN minds? I immediately told the guy he was on something if he thought I would pay that much... So, I called up www.tirerack.com and got a price of $268 per tire ($280 with shipping) and place the order immediately. They guarenteed 2 days shipping, so I will get it fixed next week (and still have to pay $60 for labor, which sucks)....
Tell me that this is not some crap.... Thank god I only needed one tire, because the other rear tire still has 7/32 of tread left, so it is still ok to buy a new tire and use it with the old one... I only have 8,000 miles on the car and was really hoping to get to 20,000 miles before I replaced my tires so that I could replace all of them with Bridgestone Pole Position S-03s.... Those tires are much better in terms of cost and performance (don't need to heat them up for grip), but they do wear out in 12-15,000 miles... Oh well.... Just pissed today... Need a beer or some other stuff to take my mind off this.
F*CK!

Re: So Pissed at my Dealership!
If one tire only has 7/32 thread, and you put a tire on the other side that has 32/32, you will be spinning your diff more than normal. Whether or not it will damage anything I don't know, but there is some risk there.

Re: So Pissed at my Dealership!
Hey Shader 7... The guy at www.tirerack.com said that Michelin Pilot Sports come with only 10/32 of tread depth when the tire is brand new. Therefore, I only wore 3/32 of tread depth off my tires in 8,000 miles. Not too bad... The guy said not to put on only one tire if the current tread depth is less than 6/32... Therefore it should be ok.... When I have to replace all tires, this new tire will be a little premature, but at least I will go to all Pole Position S-03s...

Re: So Pissed at my Dealership!
By the way... my dealership (Frontier Infiniti - Northern Cali - Bay Area) called me 3 hrs later (after I already placed the tire order with www.tirerack.com) and told me that they wanted to match my price (which means I don't have to pay for shipping, but I guess that is offset by tax).... So, I cancelled my order with tirerack so that I could have my car back by Monday. I hate being without it....

Re: So Pissed at my Dealership!
Hey 6mt,
sorry to hear about your tire. Crap..if i were you, i wouldn't have cancel the order from tire rack. Should have told your dealer that they should have given you that price at the begining. If that was me, i say screw your dealer. If they value your business, they should have known better not to charge an arm and a leg for it. Hell if i were you, i put the spare tire on and just park it at home. When new tire come in, go to a tire shop and let them install it. It's cheaper and you letting your dealer know, don't screw with me...u just lost my business from now...
Again, at the thought of not driving her for couple day, that can be damaging too...hehehhe...
I would have suffer not driving her for couple days and have my point made to the dealer. It's the principle that matter. My 2 cents...don't mind me i'm just rambling...
