I finally got around to modifying my headlamps. I wanted to change the orange blinker to clear and paint the chrome a satin black. Changing the orange blinker to clear turned out to be more of a struggle than anticipated because the blinker and the chrome around it are one piece. They just chromed over orange plastic, so it had to be drilled out and a new piece of clear plastic installed. I can give more details if people want.

Yes it was custom made. I drilled the center of the orange blinker out, than took a die grinder with a carbide bit and ground out the rest of the blinker right to the edge. I then chrome painted the inside of it. Then I went to the hardware store, bought some overhead light plastic, cut it to size, and glued it in.

The orange blinker is all one piece, not just the flat part part but the whole piece in this picture. That is why you have to die grind just the orange section out and then cut a perfect sized clear piece to install. I used super glue very carefully around the entire edge. Do not get the glue anywhere but on the edge. I also had to chrome paint the inside because the factory chrome wipes off of this piece. The whole piece underneath the chrome is orange. So I just painted the inside and taped off the part that goes into the lower light.

damn it, that sounds hard to do...
can we find someone to make us a bunch of these blinker covers for a reasonable price?
I know someone on this forum took a mould of the blinker and made a new set for himself...

The blinker would have to be chrome with a clear lense, maybe we could find someone to make us one but not for a long time I bet. In the mean time people will have to do it themselves. You are right it is a lot of work but I think it looks great. My most favorite mod so far. Now I cant wait for 20" black centered aeros.

Great job. it's good to see people starting to mod their headlights. have you thought about putting in projectors? If you can clear out the amber piece, you can put in projectors.

In the 4th pic it looks like your drivers side headlight and blinker are on, but the passenger side is not. How'd you get the headlight to light up on one side only? Am I seeing things?

You are right I only have one headlight plugged in because I still have not made a definite decision about the signal bulb. Once you replace the orange plastic with the clear plastic you then have a clear blinker. I was going to get an amber bulb but of course that style of bulb is not made in amber. So I am trying to find an orange cover to go over the bulb, paint the bulb, or leave it clear. I think an amber looking bulb will contrast with our headlights more, so it makes the blue look bluer.
