damn!!! look what I did during changing cabin air filter!

damn!!! look what I did during changing cabin air filter!
during installing grounding wire, I changed my cabin air filter also.
But while I was installing ECU wire, I heard sound that something took off!
But wtf! it was a plastic cover that goes into the way inside of cabin air box.
I am attatching a pic of it.
then I tried to put this back on for about an hour, but I couldn't.
It was so small space for me to put it back on.
So, here's the question, do I really have to have it? or is this just for preventing some rocks or leaves go in?
Please help guys.

Hopefully someone with a service manual or experience with it can chime in.

It definitely looks like a door that is hinged and has a sealing surface on that one side. Looks like it is to stop flow in one direction. Looks like a necessary part to me .

toss it. Reduce the weight of the car.
Find more pieces of "Fantastic Plastic" and toss them too.

You should turn on you climate controls and switch from recycled air to fresh air, from dash vents to floor vents, or turn on your AC and make sure your not getting hot air from outside. It looks like some type of Blend air door.

You must have that; sorry, it's called a blend-air door by many ASE techs and it is needed for proper operation of the AC fresh to recirculated air.

It looks like part no. 14 in the enclosed diagram. Good luck putting it back on.

At least you're getting to know more about your car? jk Shouldn't be difficult. Just a matter of getting the left tab in first then pushing into place.

Hey, Go Inside Your Car And Check Your Air FLOW. Check Your Dual Climate Control. Make Sure That You Are Getting An Even Seperation Of Air. Hot Air On Left/ Right Or Cold Air Left/right. And Check Your Recirculate Button.

Optional
Yeah its a baffle that is probably for redirecting the airflow according to what MODE you've chosen for your HVAC. You need it in there...but I haven't the slightest idea how the hell to get it back where it belongs...or if you've broken it. It looks to be ok to me...but is the right side of the hinge intact? Or does it set onto a post instead of clicking into a hinge like the left side?
