Somtimes that cable in there will get hung up on somthing. Take something like a hair pin and run it around the perimeter of the gas lid, maybe it will un-hook that cable

I just went out and looked at mine. There is no "cable" controlling the lock. My first thought was that maybe you hit the trunk lock in the glove box, so I tried that and it didn't lock the gas while engaged. The lock is a little plastic piece that has an angle on the point cut away from the car. If you are able to CAREFULLY get something in there that would be able to un-engage the piece it should retract. The piece is directly on the axis of the lid on the left side (obviously).

It may have just gunked up just enough to not be able to retract. If it were me and I were not able to take it to a dealer I would try spraying a small amount of WD-40 in there, then silicone spray, then Simple Green VERY carefully and not much of a squirt of it either (hoping that the gas cap was locked tight!)

Use the button on your drivers door and toggle locks back and fourth; unlock and then try your gas door... This happened to me twice since Oct. 04.

This happened to me too. I had to force it open and wound up breaking the flimsy plastic pivot that keeps it locked. I would advise everyone to lubicate the little plastic thing that retracts from the hole inside the hinge. The G's gas door is not water tight so things tend to get dirty and wet in there.

I am not sure, but i have this problem too.. i figure out taht you need to unlock your door to open the gas door. If your doors are lock, you can't open the gas door.. Hope this help.

Looks like you will start your fuel strike a little earlier.

this happened to me and the dealership replaced it underwarranty, I think they actually had to break that little pice of plastic to open the door.

my spring release stuck once. It actually broke and jammed up. I had to used my Driver License and pop the door open. Can you tell if hte lock is stuck in the locked possition? If its not, just try to get your finger nail ir something thru the gas door jam area and pop it open. There wasnt much resistance on mine.

What did you pry it open with? Did you scratch the paint?
