Question about wind/tire noise

Hello,
For those already tooling around in the coupe, at what speed does the wind or tire noise become real noticeable ?? Thanks in advance. ...dean

Re: Question about wind/tire noise

I havent broken 70mph yet (just got it a week ago)...

Wind noise... what wind noise?

Tire noise... if you get the 18's, you'll hear them just as any other low profile tire.

Re: Question about wind/tire noise

you get that high pitch noise too? sounds like a recorder flute?

I get it at about 60+ on the freeway. seems to be comming from the right side window or sun roof. I can't figure it out. It also seems to happen when the wind hits from the side.

Re: Question about wind/tire noise

I want to bring it into infiniti so they can check the seals, but how do I get them to hear it? I don't want them joy riding on the freeway till it happens.

Nooooo.. I dont get any wind noise at all. I'm surprised you do. The coupe is a very aerodynamic car.

Re: Question about wind/tire noise

I get it on the side window also. if i roll it down all the way and then back up it sometimes stops. maybe the seals aren't right. i'll check with the dealer.

Re: Question about wind/tire noise

I really don't get any wind noise. But I do get alot of noise coming from the tires at freeway speed. It's not that big a deal though. I've had low profiles on my wifes VW since we bought it, and with it 1 1/2 inches lower than stock the road noise is even louder than the G. And the G rides much better.

Re: Question about wind/tire noise

I don't notice any noise with the windows up...and the 18"'s are incredibly quiet for what I was expecting...very smooth car...

Re: Question about wind/tire noise

Yeah, I got the 17"wheels and I hear a lot of tire noise that seems to be coming from the rear right side. Sounds like the window is open back there but there is no window back there!

Re: Question about wind/tire noise

I agree, from the driver's seat there seems to be more wind noise coming from the passenger side rear window than I would expect. If anyone has a solution let us know what it is!

It's not obnoxious, but definitely not as quiet as the front side windows. I guess it could be that there is so little wind noise up front, that the rear is just more noticeable.

Re: Question about wind/tire noise

I'm not complaining about the 18's at all. they are smooth. My high school cars were lowered 3 inches or more with 30 series, that was noisy, but I didn't really notice over the exhaust .

this wind noise I'm talking about is really loud. It's like a whistle. It's hard to explain it, it just sounds like a recorder flute to me. Similar to a belt slipping, but it's really from the wind.

Re: Question about wind/tire noise

OvaYahead, for odd sounds in the car, you should always take the tech for a ride to demonstrate. I wouldn't try to explain it then have them come back and say 'didn't notice anything' then you hear it on the way home !! ...dean

Re: Question about wind/tire noise

Do you mean to tell me that the 17" wheels with the all-season tires are noisy? How do they compare to the 18" tire/wheel combo? How do they compare in ride quality?
