Re: SKYLINE, V35 badge

I'll admit it might not be cheap, and parts are usually hard to get.

And the only ones I usually see do this are people who usually show off their cars at import car shows.

Not sure how familiar you are with the import scene, but this is a very respected alternative mod compared to putting on crazy body kits and wings that would deem them rice.

This type of mod would be oblivious to anyone else and would go un-noticed, but only a true enthusiast of that particular car would recognize the changes.

JDM conversions are very popular in the import scene.
Check this site out... In their online store they have a special section just for JDM conversions.

BTW in case anyone didn't know... JDM = Japanese Domestic Market.

Re: SKYLINE, V35 badge

Lolloboy,

I would think that a person who has enough knowledge about cars to know what a Skyline is, is the same person who would also know that an Infiniti G35 is the export equivalent.

From everything I've read, the key difference I see is that the Skyline name has a long standing heritage, to include some really fine performance models, while no such "blood line" exists for the G35 name. Obviously, my hope would be that the current G is the genisis of a new blood line that will develope it's own following and history of performance oriented cars.

Re: SKYLINE, V35 badge

I bet you all laugh when you see a Civic EX badged to say "Type-R".

Same deal guys.

Please don't do it.

Re: SKYLINE, V35 badge

That's a little different. While I wouldn't want to put a Skyline badge on my G35, I don't think it's trying to be something it's not. Trying to pretend you've got a different trim level or performance level is where it gets ridiculous. Are you sure that Civic EX isn't really a black DX so you just think the bumper and side mirrors are body color at a glanch? Better yet.. put that Type-R badge on a Neon, or slap Spyder on a Nissan hardtop.

Re: SKYLINE, V35 badge

Exactly, and well put. Look at the new "SKYLINE" R35. Looks more like a roided G35/V35 than anything else? So, roll with the punches and design concepts and know the facts.

Re: SKYLINE, V35 badge

ushtang, went to the site you posted. Man, there's some serious $'s involved! Have to wonder about dumping megabucks into a car versus looking for something a bit higher on the automotive food chain But then, I guess if it's what gets you goin' what the heck. I can see the attraction of having a replica of something no one else has.

Re: SKYLINE, V35 badge

Agreed...
As I said before, people who usually go to this extent are people who usually enter their cars into import auto shows for competition.

Re: SKYLINE, V35 badge

Not the same deal.
Putting a "Type-R" badge on a Civic Ex is laughable because the Civic Ex coupe has NO similarities to the actual Civic Type-R. Not only is the engine not even the same, but the body or chasis isn't the same either.

Besides being right hand drive, what are the major differences between the Skyline V35 and the Infiniti G35? Please also keep in mind I am only referring to the V35 and not the GT-R.

None that I know of, so how is it the same deal?

Ok, I'll try, but I doubt that would happen.

Re: SKYLINE, V35 badge

g35arage, that's the concept GT-R, not the skyline...
Nissan has seperate GT-R from skyline, so from now on, GT-R will be named "GT-R", not "Skyline GT-R"... The infiniti G35S/C IS selling under the name Skyline in Japan.
