random question

Kind of a random question but, has anyone looked at the inside of the hood (like the side you see when it's open)? Anyways there is like a cover there and it says in big letters advanced front midship. Does anyone know what this means, just curious.

It has to do with the font end layout and engine placement. Mazda uses the same name for their layout.

your engine sits on top of the front axels.. giving you a better 50/50 balance.. g35 is close to 50/50..

this gives your car better balance and handling..

traditional cars has the engine infront of the axels (long hood..) very obvious example is older american cars with the long hood and fenders

front midship engine placement usually are made to drop down, away from the driver during major accidents. most cars with the engine set up crumple and the engines drops.

It doesn't drop, it telescopes!

I'm sure some marketing genius got paid lots of money to come up with that word....

hence the "FM platform"....aka, the Front Midship platform...and I have a feeling that it is because of this that when you get into a major spinout wreck in a Z, the front end tends to tear apart, since when the motor breaks away, it puts a lot of forces on to the axle...I may be wrong, just an observation...

look at the wheel well, and see how far the axle was pushed forward...then again, the axle could have been bent...

(oh yeah, I've been receiving letters from the City of Houston to go claim this car since they title was never transferred over to the new owner when he wrecked it...then I called the lot and asked if I can just go up there to take pictures even though I traded the car in, and the dude told me "NO!"...haha, that bastard)

no, what's I'm trying to say is, because the motor sits on top of the axle, it creates a greater force when you get into an accident to pull apart from the body especially if the vehicle is spinning around....again, just an observation, I could be wrong...
