Drove both before ordering a 6 speed. The car has so much torque you're not shifting alot in slow traffic.Either one is a blast to drive...but I really am enjoying the 6MT.

The SC300 came in both Auto and Manual. Its the SC400 that oinly came in an automatic. I know, because one of my suite mates in college had a manual SC300. (We're talking about the last generation SC, not the current one right?)

The SC300 was available in manual but in very very limited quantities (read 1500 or less).

I differ with those that say "if you have to ask then get the AT".

I feel if you have to ask, then get the Manual Transmission!

I've never read a post from an MT owner WISHING they had bought the AT or even that the next time they are going to get an AT.

I am not saying that the MT is any faster than the AT - they are close enough in performance to be considerd equal. Even the Brembo's I consider more of an appearance option.

It's just the difference between playing a piano with 10 keys or 20 keys. The 20 key one gives you a few more ways to express yourself !

Play-ON!!!!

Re: Going to buy... manual or auto

I bought a 6MT, and it was my first manual car.

It was VERY fustrating at first, and it still is. I've had it for about a month and a half, and I'm still getting use to the manual tranny.

See, I was spoiled by auto's. Just floor the gas, and your gone. Manual takes more technique, there are so many other factors that go into driving that you never knew where there before.

For the first months, I was asking myself "Should I have really gotten manual?". Honestly, I could barely keep up with my sisters civic for god's sake. (Dead stop start over course...if you can get 3rd gear in a manual you will destroy...) After much practice, its getting better and better.

Now its really fun, although I still have much more to learn. You just have this new appreciation for cars when you drive stick. You feel more in control of the car.

In traffic, the car is a b*tch. I live in LA and its rush hour there almost all day. But if you can handle that, like I can, then it shouldn't be a big factor.

Look, my point is that you want to make the decision your happy with. If you get a manual, and down the road you say "man, traffic with manual tranny is terrible!", not good.

Same with auto, if you get auto and say down the road "I miss the control factor of a manual car...", not good.

So my suggestion is, learn manual before you make your decision. Yep, learn it well. Then you will know for sure what you want.

good luck.

Re: Going to buy... manual or auto

this was my first manual car and in the first week of having it, my leg would get tired and i would still have to concentrate on my shifts. After two weeks, i got everything down perfect. I mean sometimes my shifts would be a little rough but it goes away once you get used to the clutch. Driving stick becomes a natural thing to do when driving and its really fun compared to the auto car i had before this car

Re: Going to buy... manual or auto

I wanted to get the MT, and it would have been my first MT car. Unfortunately, I couldn't wait 4 months , as that's how long it was going to take, with the options I wanted. I picked up somebody else's order, as they wanted a spoiler, and only (ONLY. That's ease to say now) had to wait a month. I am happy with the AT with the stiptronic option. I just couldn't wait four months to get this beauty.
