For those with Nismo and Fujitsubo exhausts..

Grubbs is telling me that the Nismo exhaust for 350Z won't fit on the G35 because the pipe is too short. Did anyone who has installed this exhaust run into any problems when installing, and how did you work around the problem?

Same question for the Fujitsubo exhaust people. Does anyone who has the Fujitsubo also have the Y-pipe, and length concerns during install?

Thanks,

makotochan

Re: For those with Nismo and Fujitsubo exhausts..

The Nismo system is designed for the Z, but it will work on the G Coupe with only a slight modification (mid-pipe extension) that can be done by any muffler shop for like $40-$50. It's not hard at all!

I have heard many people talk about the Nismo being nothing than a rebadged Fujitsubo, and quite honestly, that may be the case, but from what I have heard online, the Nismo does sound a little more "higher pitched" than the Fujitsubo. Now that could be due to the fact the Fujitsubo does not come with the Y-Pipe, but I'm not sure. Looks wise, they almost look identical in every way, except for the tips. Fujitusbo is also one of Japans largest aftermarket manufacturers of exhaust system, so it wouldnt be a shock or anything out of the ordinary if they were producing the systems for Nismo, but I have yet to comfirm that.

I have the Fujitsubo system on my Coupe without the Y-Pipe. There is no length concerns here as Fujitsubo makes two systems, one for the Z and one for the G, so they're both unique to each car. The Y-Pipe for both cars are the same. The only thing different is the mid-pipe. The G's is longer. That's it!

The Nismo system I have seen selling for as low as roughly $1000 to as high as $1300, depending on where you get. So if you were to pick it up for about a grand, by the time you figure in shipping and the muffler shop work, you're looking at roughly $1100-$1150 for the whole setup, which isnt a bad deal!

The cheapest I have seen the Fujitsubo system was at Gruppe-S which charged me $850 shipped (and please take into consideration this thing came in a box that was like 70" long, almost 30" wide, and roughly 20" deep, weighing in at over 50lbs). Gruppe-S also has the Y-Pipe and that's going for like $450 shipped, so together, you're looking at like $1300, without any need for mods.

Both systems pretty much end up falling into the same price catagory. What matters here is if you're like me a "do it yourselfer" and would rather a kit you can just bolt on in your onw garage, vs a system that needs to be modified by a shop to work on your car.

Just got my Fujitsubo with Y-pipe installed yesterday. No length problem cuz it's designed for our G. And the installation is a snap, which shouldn't take you more than an hour.

Did you install it yourself or did you get it done? How did you go about removing the stock exhaust system (axle back)?

Re: For those with Nismo and Fujitsubo exhausts..

I do like the Fujitsubo quite abit. It is infact part of the "tuning package" that you can get from the factory if you get a Skyline in japan along with an earthing kit. They also offer just the exhaust with a new Skyline.

The real only reason I was considering the NIsmo is because it turns out Grubbs is selling in on their website, and since I'm getting my car from them soon, I figured I would just get everything I wanted installed at once.

I'm liking the fujitsubo more and more...

cool, saridi, finally someone in TO's got a different exhaust (other than borla or stillen). I'm seriously considering the Pro-1 but I am scared that it will be too loud and I will get sick of it.

how do you like the fujitsubo?

I like my nismo ex, cuz it's noticebly quieter than other ex I've heard. Plus nismo was the only ex that didn't lose torque during the 350Z's ex shoot out. I highly recommand nismo. I was quiet surprized that the ex was actually quieter than stock ex under 2500 RPM.
