Fun time while at work.

I come home to a relative telling me he "cleaned of my car with a towel and was really gentle." Needless to say I'm furious. So, I walk outside, it has NO snow on it at all, I look at it in the light...it's scratched to complete $hit.

Why must people touch the [censored] car when I'm not here. Now it's just ruined. I doubt a wax job is going to help it.

wut color is ur ride? if its black, yea ur gonna have trouble. sorry to hear about that. most ppl dont understand that u must be careful to take snow off cuz its easy to scratch. did they do this on purpose knowing this would happen u think, jealousy maybe? again, sorry to hear.

Re: Fun time while at work.

laser red. they didn't do it on purpose, they were just trying to be helpful. they don't seem to understand that a towel can scratch a car, and the bastard keeps denying it.

it looks really bad. at first i had minor circular swirl marks from hand car washes, but now i have vertical and side to side marks. it's probably only noticable with a street lamp, but still, just to see this [censored] is making me extremely pissed.

can anyone suggest anything that might be able to help me "lessen" these marks? i'd really appreciate it.

Here ya go. I only changed the contrast/brightness levels to show the scratches better. If you look a little below the trunk line....you'll see what I'm talkin about, and it's like that all over the goddamn car!

Male relative? I would hope he'd know better, but that's besides the point...

Zaino works well and diminishing the appearance of scratches. Note: appearance, not existance. You're going to have to polish your baby to get those out

Re: Fun time while at work.

Yeah, you think he'd know better right, I've told him more than once to stay away from. If you look at the pic, you'll notice bird crap too. I find it great that he probably just rubbed that right in everywhere....I feel the need to break something! This is the first decent car I've owned, I'm afraid to polish it and screw it up even more. I've waxed other cars I've had, but never a baby like this.

I have the Zaino order form from a local PA dealer. So besides Zaino, what else should I purchase/try to fix this crap. My saviors.

Who in their right mind does that? You know it's an expensive car, don't freakin' touch it! Let alone do something that stupid. My entire family and the people I work with are afraid to get near my car because they know how much it means to me and how well I take care of it. I can't imagine how you feel, I'm pissed off for ya. I'm absolutely stunned that someone would do that. I think that's worse then someone keying it.

Random orbital polisher, polishing compound, etc. There are a few good posts out there on the whole process, so if I can find em I'll like them up. Was this a parents, sibling, or child? Parents often think they're being helpful, siblings are just being a PITA, and children... well, they're innocent. Until they eat in my G. Then they're little trolls.

Re: Fun time while at work.

Unfortunately it was my grandfather....I live in the same complex. I didn't take it to work today because of the snow, and this happens. He says he didn't want it to become ice. I would have rather dealt with the ice!!! I appreciate the information everyone. I'm traumatized lol

Oooh- the trickiest relative of all to deal with. They combine the most endearing aspects of parents and children-- how can you get mad?

You might want to get a car cover, as it will keep down his impulse to clean your car for you (?). What did you tell him? I'd ask the dealership who they'd recommend to buff out the scratches if you don't want to plop down the dough for the equipment.

Re: Fun time while at work.

Well I drove by my car when coming to work and noticed it was cleaned off, so I didn't assume a stranger cleaned off my car, had to be him. I told him he scratched it to hell and back, but he just keeps saying no. I'm going to show him the pic tomorrow and tell him to keep his hands off of it or else he's going to pay for what he's done. I have to draw the line somewhere ya know? Don't make me feel bad!

Re: Fun time while at work.

I had something very similar happen to me one time. I ended up paying a professional detailer about $250 to fix it. To this day, I don't know exactly what he did, but when he was done, there's wasn't even the slightest hint of a swirl/spider web scratch to be found anywhere on the car. The car ended up looking exactly like the day I picked it up at the dealer.

My advice would be to find a good knowledgeable detailer in your area and let them take care of it.

Sounds like that would be the easiest thing to do. I'm in Jersey...I don't think I'll find a place I can trust. Everywhere around here seems shady to say the least.

Re: Fun time while at work.

Car covers are great for the snow. So far I've only used the cover before snowfalls. Most of the snow falls off or gets blown off the slicker cover. And you dont have to be as gentle on the cover. If you have (or he has) a leaf blower those work well too.
