Re: 2005 G35 Coupe Info

A complete interior redesign/upgrade wouldn't bother me at all. I test drove the BMW 325ci and 330ci and I actually preferred the G35 interior. It just seemed more ergonomically sound -- seating position and layout. I prefer that over "quality of materials" -- and the quality is not that horrid for the price.

The other side to this is that a interior upgrade will add to the price. Which is actually a good thing for the rest of us, even if we do not have the interior upgrade -- it will be perceived as being worth more. A higher price will also make the car more exclusive and less common.

Perhaps Nissan will attempt to put more distance between the 350Z and the G35 in quality and price.

The only thing that would bug me is if they fix that problem of the display and clock reflecting off the windshield at night, by completely redesigning the dash.

As far as car value depreciation, Mercedes Benz cars aren't holding much value. I don't think resale value is a concern of the manufacturer at all. They don't care how much the car gets resold for. All the manufacturer cares about is getting new cars off of its lots.

That makes no sense at all. By your logic, Nissan should still be producing the same Skyline it was making in the '60s. How smart would that be?

Mercedes doesn't worry about resale, but it does worry about customer satisfaction. Lexus has the best resale values out there, and I'm sure that BMW and Mercedes aren't anywhere near it. However, the difference I believe is how they treat their customers. I mean, I noticed the difference in experience from bringing in a C230 Kompressor into the dealer vs a S500. With the S500, they treated us noticeably different (but perhaps it was only the dealership. The same one both times btw.) I assume people purchasing or leasing these higher end cars are of upper middle class at least, and they will want to have new cars. So by keeping the customer happy, they will come back to keep leasing/buying new cars.

But that doesn't have anything to do with the manufacturer not updating the interior.

I was at a local car show here in NY and spoke with an Infiniti salesman regarding the upcoming G. Basically he said some minor changes for 05 and they are looking into a convertible for possibly 06.

dash redesign soo soon? No wonder Infiniti resale values blow!!! I thought this was supposed to be the new line of Infiniti that would help boost resale values! I guess not...at this rate Nissan should just pull the Infiniti division out of North America and just call em all Nissans.

Re: 2005 G35 Coupe Info

Slight revisions might actually mean Infiniti is taking notes from their customers and changing what many did not like. I chose to go through a one-hour survey with Infiniti to tell them what I liked and did not like about my car.

They've already made changes based on our input -- the armrest on the 6MT is different and we now have a faster CD changer in the 04. Neither helps me, but it shows they are listening and new customers will reap the benefits. Hopefully, in a few years, I will see those benefits if I get a new Infiniti.

Keeping everything 100% the same from one year to another doesn't seem like a sound idea. Technology is constantly changing, and improvements in quality could always be made. Resolving customer complains for future models shows a human factor that they are listening as well. If they remained the same, competitors will improve their vehicles leaving those who do not change behind.
