Hi,
I've received mixed suggestions on this subject. Some say they really feel the power difference and some say they don't at all. I want to open this up for discussion. And, is there a sound difference. One person told me that around 4kRPM, it sounds "TURBO like"...true/not?

Turbo like?! It does whistle here and there and when you first punch the throttle, and I guess someone can conclude that it sounds like a "turbo."
Anyways, I have the combo and have noticed a significant gain in performance. Around 5k it really growls, and the throttle has much better response now. Of course that is what more air flow will do =) It is well worth it IMO but KEEP IN MIND - I have also noticed a decrease in MPG =/
Anyways, nice plates. Looks like we are the NV brothers haha. I'm a AG4U2NV and you are 1MOG2NV =P

Thanks for the post...appreciated...anyway...if anyone wants that plate, it's available in CA...my G plate is RANDYS G, but I couldn't create it on the DMV site because it was taken (by me) and they haven't come yet.

If you are not going to go FI, and want to get the best possible bang for your buck, while keeping the absolute outlay as low as you can, I think the z tube and popcharger are very hard to beat for returns in both hp and auditory pleasure. A very logical first mod to this car's engine.
Next in line might be the underdrive crank pulley.
Then you are stuck with more serious bucks, like the RT cats for $500 plus installation. That would be my next choice in order of preference. But with some DIY you can have all of the above for about a grand. That is pretty sweet returns for the money, both in terms of hp and sound.
After that.....the bigger tickets like plenum, catback and headers, which with installation are all in the $700+ range.

i dunno, i hear people gain 5-6hp from the z tube alone, so what can the pop charger possibly do?looks?sound?the way the stock filter is placed, its already getting cold air from the outside.

Sorry to be ignorant here, but what is the difference between the stock G35 tube and the Z-tube? Is the Z-tube a larger diameter or something? I don't understand how just changing the tube between the engine and the MAF can add 5-6hp?
I am seriously considering this upgrade instead of a CAI because I don't want the hassle of cleaning the fliter for a CAI setup, and the Pop Charger is a lazy-mans way of achieving a lower level of increased performance... Please advise.

The G tube has resonators coming off of it which slow down the intake of air & quiet the exhaust noise as well. The Z tube lacks these resonators & is also larger in diameter.

They're a little bit cheaper than that, you could easily pick one up for that price shipped no problem. The Pop Charger will gain power over a stock filter because it flows better. The venturi adapter that attaches to the MAF smooths any turbulence that you'd get with a normal square'd off filter and is supposed to flow better. They've been around for quite some time now and are proven gains. Some CAI's may make more overall power, but there are some drawbacks to CAIs' as well....
I've yet to really hear of anyone who's been disappointed with the JWT Pop Charger upgrade.
