Angry Purchased my 1st radar detector last week; today:first speeding ticket in 5 yrs.

Hey what's up guys? I purchased my first radar detector last week (Passport 8500 X50 in blue) and bought the whole Mike's mount and the invisicord for it. Works great and all and helped me this past weekend when I had to drive up to Orlando and the Tampa area.
This morning, I woke up late and I was rushing to get out of my house and I forgot my radar detector. I normally take it out of my car so it doesn't get damaged by the heat and it doesn't get stolen out of my car. well I was taking the inside roads near my home where the speed limit is 30 and I was going 50 and right there was a cop in the corner of a block and got me. Type of ticket issued: "Radar ticket!"
The day I forget the passport is the day I had to get pulled over. Sorry guys, I am just absolutely furious @ myself right now. I just keep thinking that if I had the damn radar detector, I wouldn't have gotten this damn ticket.

Sorry to hear about that!

I can't live without the bogey number and arrows on the Valentine one.

I would never use another radar other than the V1.

Actually, if you hadn't been driving 50 in a 30 you wouldn't have gotten the ticket. Drive reasonably and you don't need a detector.

"I would not need it in the jail, I would not need it out on bail"

(a little Dr Seuss humor)

I'm not saying that people don't speed, but 50 in a 30 is excessive. I'm surprised you didn't get nailed for careless/reckless driving.

Dayum, that sucks (Frkn Murphy's Law) Hopefully you are eligible for traffic school. There is an online traffic school which is very easy and cheap. Gototrafficschool.com

You just have to skip to the questions and take the test, if you miss any questions, the answers are shown when you scroll all the way to the bottom. You just have to leave your computer on for six hours to make it believe that you are reading all the info or as if you were in a traffic school class. You can go do something for those six hours and come back to your computer later. When you finish with the test and pass, the company will send your completion certificate to the courts. I've done this a lot for my friends with a little fee Hope this helps

^ Online traffic schools really depend if they're court approved. CA and FL would definitely be different.

Can't always rely on radar detectors. Your #1 assurance for not getting a speeding ticket is...not to speed. Yea I know it's easier said than done but was it really worth going the extra 20 mph? 5 mph...sure no prob, maybe even 10.

GW....lol what a perfect opportunity.

speed limit was actually 35 mph, so I was over by 16 mph. I normally drive reasonably and don't speed a lot but just like most people, when you're running late for work, you speed. I am eligible for traffic school so I'll be doing that. Thanx for the help chizeld.

Funny, same thing happened to me 3-4 years ago. I used my radar detector for a beach trip in my brother's car. I forgot to transfer it back to my car, and the next day I got a speeding ticket. 52 in a 35. I was late for class that day. Anyway, that was more than 3 years ago. I just had my first ticket in the G 3 weeks ago. I was doing 80 in a 65. Court date is this Friday. I hired a lawyer and don't have to show up in court. I'll find out Monday if it will be reduced or not.

Lol oh the irony. I too have the same experience.

i ordered a red x50 but couldnt use it when it arrived because my cig plug didnt work (in my 95 galant). Needless to say i received a ticket due to my lead foot. But in my defense that car would not move unless you half gas it or more
