TPM light

Does this thing go off because of iminent failure or just low pressure? I had the light go on with that beeping noise this morning. Scared the crap out of me because I didn't know that there was an audible alarm as well as the light. Hopefully it's just low pressure and not some kind of leak.

Mine has gone off a 3-4 times in 2 1/2 years, each time when the pressure in one of the tires dropped to about 30 psi (normal 35). This always happened right after a fast moving weather front came thru and dropped the temps quickly. I expect is was due to rapidly falling barometric pressure.

The beeping should stop after a few beeps, but the light will stay on until the pressure is raised. So, check the tire pressures and look for leaks.

That's why it's better to check tire pressure in the morning oppose to the day when pressure it higher due to raise in temp.

You should do a quick inspection of your tires. When mine went off, I found a nail in the sidewall.

Mine pops at roughly 28 PSI. I had a slow leak once.. LOL.. I also had it go off one morning when we were continuing a trip from Texas to Washington state. We were in Wyoming and the temps were in the teens - after a few miles on the interstate it corrected itself..

Some people think it is annoying..I like it alot...saved me many of times...it is very accurate in that when it goes off, there is some tire that is low with a problem...when you fill back up, goes away in about 1 min...nice feature...it did scare me too when it first went off...I pulled over and looked in the manual to find out what that light meant!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, same here. We were up in the mountains. I pulled over at the first chance while my wife was rummaging thru the owner's manual looking for info.
